Mar 14th 2012 9:48PM Pie are not round. Pie are square. Remember that.
Mar 6th 2012 2:19AM Arbolamante is made up Spanish for "Treelover." And it's a vanilla-era name for my resto druid -- I just thought it appropriate for a druid back then. Only later was there tree form, and long after that was it taken away (sort of), with all the controversy that followed. If I'd known, I'd probably gone with "Fred."
Mar 6th 2012 12:37AM @Revynn Agreed, certainly. It's fine to have a gear check fight from time to time -- I guess Ultraxion fits that role in Dragon Soul, though there are some minimal mechanics there. I'd like to see a great plausible range of successful strats for most fights though-- but I'm not a game designer, so I'm not sure how to achieve that.
Mar 5th 2012 11:02PM "Dance" is definitely the right word. While there are bosses that allow for variations in strategy, it still boils down to do your dance steps, fire off you interrupts and cooldowns at the right time, and pump out the numbers.
I don't have any bright ideas for improving on it, but I do get a little tired with all the dancing sometimes.
Mar 2nd 2012 10:05AM Actual politics, with shifting alliances (so to speak) would shake things up in this game. It would create some technical issues -- can I still group with my guildmates if my character's race left the faction? And it would complicate PvP. The first is a real complication; the latter, potentially a benefit.
Feb 29th 2012 2:50PM @raingod -- I think Alysander is on your side on this. It's more a sense of if the elites are doing great, why is everything still rotten for everyone else?
Jan 29th 2012 4:08PM South of the Maelstrom, eh? I had assumed it was on the "other side of the world," that there was a hemisphere we don't see on our maps. Though come to think of the globe you see in Ulduar would suggest otherwise.
Jan 27th 2012 11:11PM Not mean as a reply -- oh well. :)
Jan 27th 2012 11:10PM Here's one -- look only at health bars, pay attention to nothing else. Nine out of ten, my mess-ups are because I was so obsessed I didn't notice the stuff I'm not supposed to stand in. Thankfully, there's the add-on GTFO. It helps, but you still have to look up from the health bars once in a while.
Jan 17th 2012 8:15PM Here's the thing -- anyone who just two-buttoned Wild Growth/Rejuvenation back in Wrath or who was automatically hitting WG on every cooldown before the last patch was wasting mana and overhealing. There were fights that called for exactly those mechanics -- any fight when there is lots of raid damage going out, spam away. But other situations call for other behaviors. I pretty routinely top the HPS meters, and I cast WG when it is needed, and not when it isn't.
