The Queue: Sad clown snowman otter {WoW}

Mar 13th 2011 12:18PM cthun, seems fairly magical
malygos, aspect of magic
yoggsaron, of the saronite variety
neltharion. the eearth warder
can i assume that at some point at the start of the next expansion we will be killing another old god?
what with there being 5 old gods and 5 dragon aspects can we also assume that we will be killing them off in order?
tin foil hat?

The Queue: The right and wrong ways to post Recount results {WoW}

Mar 9th 2011 11:42AM the reason for the z-tier (ooh i like this term, im keeping it.)
is to help people get into the t11 raids. if fills in the gearing gaps such as the war str ranged weapons. all of those slots which people complain that they dont have ilvl 346 options for.

youre not upgrading slots from 346 to 352, youre upgrading from 333 or lower to 352.

you get into t11 raids faster you get t11 gear faster you end up much better prepared for t12.

Blood Pact: The fine art of staying alive, part 1 {WoW}

Mar 8th 2011 10:59AM hmmm the best tip i've found for surviving as affliction, one which may not be that obvious but one that once you know it can be done you'll be like DOH! why didn't i think of that?

dk's are painfull classes.
dk's popping army of the dead are extra painful.

i get happy when i see a dk pop army in a battleground because i know i just got myself a free 15 secs of godmode..

step 1. use soulburn.
step 2. use seed of corruption.
step 3. ????
step 4. PROFIT!!

you'll now be healing for roughly 7% hp per second. not too shabby

also having ~ 10 corruption dots ticking is almost certain to keep eradication up for the duration.

did i mention it helps kill the army?

Breakfast Topic: What class puts you at ease? {WoW}

Feb 25th 2011 12:56PM well we only have the one aggro drop, it costs hp and has a 3 min cooldown.
and since all the aggro reducing talents were removed if were being aggro magnets that either means A. were doing alot of dps. B. were multidotting, which ties in to A. or C. being played by a bad lock thats breaking cc instead of applying it.

running grim batol the best possible class you can see pop up is a well played lock, thats 3 cc's on most pulls in there
1 elemental 1 humanoid from a succy and 1 of anything from fear.
a well played lock is a sight to behold.
but you might have trouble noticing it.

Feb 25th 2011 11:13AM i really dont get all the people still considering mages to be the best cc in a dungeon.

im a warlock, i can fear ANYTHING.
my cc doesnt break when you look at it funny.

i have a second cc, it takes out demons and elementals, UNBREAKABLE cc, i can cc something standing right in the middle of your clusterfuck AOEfest of a pull and IT WILL BE CC'd!

and finally i have a pet that can cc ANYTHING a mage can.

thats THREE cc's, usuable in almost any cata dungeon,

mages have 1.
usuable only on humanoids.

am i missing something here?

Lichborne: Death knight rookie tips and tricks {WoW}

Jan 12th 2011 7:26AM i play an affliction / demo lock amongst other things, so dont talk about overcrowded ationbars. what ive done for all my classes is move from wasd aross one to esdf.

this leaves aqw which i usually use for short cooldowns, some interrupts, misc abilities or charge type mechanics. on my warrior for example Q 1 and ` are charge intercept and intervene.
2 is a taunt on all of my tanks.
R and T are main spam abilities, with 4 and 5 being the others.
for example on my lock r is shadowbolt, t is incinerate, 4 is soulfire, 5 is hand of guldan.
G and V are aoe abilities, for lock thats shadowflame hellfire or seed, for my warrior its cleave and shockwave, dk has blood boil. my pally has holy nova in there, priest has whatever her nova is.

next setup was shift ctrl and alt on r and t, but i put the actual buttons for them on the far right action bar.

and with all of that i still have raid markers set to F1 -F8.
and i have all the rarely used abilities, like the rarely used curses and stuff for other trees under the second pane.

sounds complicated but it works.

oh also i had to move reply from t to y, it replaces the acievements pane, but you dont need to check your achieves in a hurry in combat, and shift y works just as well.

The Care and Feeding of Warriors: Wrath report card -- protection {WoW}

Jun 26th 2010 8:59AM @decoy.
oh look, a caster mob.
whoops, let me just charge and get aggro on it, now intervene back.
oh lets intercept another, shield slam it to put that tasty silence on.
and just for the fun of it heroic throw at another.
and finally make sure you have spell reflect up.
the mobs fear?
thats ok we have beserker rage to solve that every 30 seconds.

and
the druid version is.....
make sure lacerate doesnt fall off?
get another class to pull it in?

warriors cooldowns arent just about damage mitigation. theyre about utility.
not every fight is going to have a use for every cooldown.
but every cooldown will have a use for a fight.
and more importantly every fight will have a useful cooldown.

every tank class has their particular special cooldowns, most of them have a better version of the warrior ones.
but the most important fact is that warriors have about 80% of the available cooldowns in some form, and alot of them are alot better.
sure a dk has anti magic shell., but warriors have spell reflect, every 10 seconds.
and that beats the complete absence of abilities that druids and pallies have in that area.

ranged silence?
heroic throw, every 1 minute
pallies have a 3 target ranged silence with a talented avengers.
dk's have 1 target with strangulate.
bears get nothing.

mobility?
warriors have THREE cooldowns.
THREE!
charge everey 15 seconds, intercept on 30, and intervene, which is 30 secs.
bears only have their feral charge.
pallies only get hand of freedom.
dk's get very little to keep themselves from immobilization.

interrupts?
shield bash 12 seconds.
concussion blow. 30 seconds.
shockwave, multitarget, 17 seconds.
heroic throw, 1 minute.
hell im even a tauren so ill chuck in a 2 minute warstomp.
that means in a 2 minute time period i can interrupt TWENTY THREE TIMES!
thats just stupidly good.

dk's get mind freeze, 10 second cd interrupt.
pallies would have to change seals to do the same.
bears only silence is tied to their stun...

on the topic of stuns...
shockwave, 4 second frontal cone stun. 17 second cooldown.
concussion blow. 30 again.
bears get bash. thats it.
dks dont get any.
pallies can only stun demons and undead, and then only 30 seconds.

fear?
intimidating shout, 2 minute cooldown 5 target fear.
pallies can fear undead and demons, and thats all.

getting feared?
beserker rage, 30 second cooldown, 10 second duration.
bears had an equivilent, last time i checked it was a 51 point talent with a three minute cooldown.

noone has disarms?
noone has anything like vigilance.
noone will be passively keeping up a 20% armour reduction.

sure maybe us warriors dont have the newest shiniest set of tools, but we sure as hell have the largest set of them, and im fairly sure they're the most reliable.
