Aug 26th 2011 6:01AM As a tank I can tell you the problem sure as hell is the players. I usually tank more than my weekly share of dungeons for guildies, guildies alts and friendspots and it's all good. And I know most of the tanks and people in guild with tank offspec either do so or would do so if needed.
Whenever I try to pug something I just get very anoyed very fast at how bad people perform and even worse, they then still dare open their mouths to complain about other people. Even if they don't complain about me I refuse to sit through 30 minutes of a dps telling a healer to perform better using insults and vice versa.
I am sure if you put in a rigid skill check before having people enter heroics you would have plenty of tanks for pugs. I know this is undesirable and am not proposing this is done but it would show the problem lies with the players, not the roles.
Aug 19th 2011 6:36PM It's a sad day for tanks when this fight is one of the more enjoyable ones for us. Personally I thought it was quite boring. Most of the fight you just stand there repositioning a mob, working your cooldowns and maximising your dps. No interesting extra pickups, abilities that need smart positioning / cooldown usage or hard stuff you need to avoid.
Feb 25th 2011 6:34AM Hope they do a tanking legendary after this, it's long overdue.
Feb 18th 2011 1:12PM I am a fully epic tank that allways runs with similar geared guildies. I feel we are fairly competent players and allways get heroics done swiftly. Whenever we are a dps or two short we pug them yet we do hold them up to the same standards we did ourselves when similarly geared. So we won't kick a player for having bad gear but we will for not using the gear he has to his maximum potential. About half of the pugs we do we kick people and the other half we don't. The ones that finish the runs with us allways thank us for a pleasant grouping experience because we are polite and fast.
We sometimes do encounter very rude randoms, or people that feel the need to ninja pull even tough we set a nice pace. All these changes are doing is making it harder for us to kick those people.
For me this means I will just take the 5 extra minutes it takes to ensure a full guild group over pugging each time. And I cannot say this without sounding horribly pretentious but this does mean one or two random dps lose out on a good pug run. I have spoken to other tanks and they feel the same about these changes.
I hope blizzard sees that by making it hard to kick people that make are bad or anoying they are making it less and less attractive for tanks to pug. This only increases the lack of tanks in the LFG system.
Jan 31st 2011 7:42AM I've never actually enjoyed a pug. The best I had was bearable. Most of them are downright horrible.
This is partially because most pug players seem to be unexplainably horrible and partially because even if they are not it is still much more fun to chat with guildies on skype while doing yet another boring daily hc.
