Ghostcrawler returns to the conversation, talks about hit and expertise on tanking gear {WoW}

Mar 23rd 2011 5:01PM "Tank - Stam, Str, Dodge, Parry, Mastery, Hit, Expertise (7)"
Except that Strength is fairly incidental, and Stam (and Armor) are just based on the ilvl of the gear. And you don't (as a Warrior anyway) worry about Hit and Expertise. So you just worry about Parry/Dodge/Mastery (Stam comes naturally on gear). Get your mastery as high as humanly possible, then balance your Parry / Dodge. Other than trinkets (and prioritizing Dodge/Mastery pieces over say Dodge/Expertise pieces), there aren't a whole lot of choices to be made.

The Care and Feeding of Warriors: How to survive as a DPS warrior {WoW}

Mar 13th 2011 3:36PM @Natsumi - Yeah, Arms can be burst at the beginning of a fight, but I normally just wait for the tank to have 100-200k threat before I start doing DD moves. Before that, I'll Rend/TC/Demo Shout/Sunder, all of which are very low threat and should not pull.
Base when to open up off of Omen.

(Since tanks aren't allowed to have Expertise/Hit, if a tank loses threat to your auto-attack in a raid, they should have had a MD/TotT.)

Mar 13th 2011 3:32PM @Natsumi - Last I checked, there's no longer a minimum range on Intervene, just a 25 yd max range. It did used to have a minimum range IIRC.

That being said, it's great spell, but there are plenty of cases in raids (Dragons as an example) where you don't want to use it if tanking because you might face the mob towards the raid and wipe everyone.

@Stella - when I'm DPSing on Warrior, I tend to have 3-4x the interrupts of any other player by the end of the dungeon. Forgemaster I've always enjoyed popping to Defensive Stance and Disarming him when he gets Dual Swords. I've also on several occasions thrown on a Sword/Shield and successfully tanked a pull in a heroic if the tank DCs or dies, and I've kited the adds on the boss at the end of BRC after our kiter went down and they went for the healer.

It's true that Warrior can be a bit of a threat-monster while DPSing a 5-man, especially because of the bursty nature of Colossus Smash. Good Warriors account for this fact.

Just curious though, other than CC, what exactly do other classes do that's so much harder than Warrior?

Mar 13th 2011 3:18PM I personally have Pummel bound to "F," which seems to work well.

Drama Mamas: How many chances should misbehaving guild members get? {WoW}

Mar 11th 2011 2:35PM Reading the letter, I don't see any evidence that the officer involved in the verbal altercation was the one who actually did the /gkick:

"Her behaviour was decidedly worse so while the officer was privately reprimanded for bad behaviour, she was removed from the guild."

Sounds like there were probably multiple officers (if not the GM) involved in the original decision to kick.

Mar 11th 2011 11:48AM I'm probably too much of a cynic. My first thought when reading the article is that 'she' may not even be in the LGBT. It's completely possible that the 'girl' in question is just a good liar. There are some people who are serial liars and serial manipulators even in RL, and it's not like you're easily going to be able to verify the story that the guildie in question is telling you. And while I think it would be horrible to lie about being transgendered, I can honestly say it would NOT be the biggest lie I've ever seen (both IRL and in WoW), by any means.

This simple (and harsh) truth is that the only hard"facts" you have on this individual are repeated incidents of bad behavior over a number of years. While I hate to assume the worst about anyone, I do think that Everything-Confused should have had a very serious discussion with the officers/leadership of the guild before reinviting the offending guildie.

At this point, EC has lost an officer and has regained a guildie who has caused trouble in the past. My guess is, if EC lost an officer, there are other people in the guild who are not thrilled about the re-invite and just may not be voicing it because they want to avoid drama.

I very sincerely hope that EC is right and that the guildie coming out combined with some new rules fixes the past behavior problems. But I really sincerely doubt it.

Being transgendered is not easy by any means, ESPECIALLY if you're hiding the fact. But even if the guildie in question is legitimately transgendered, it does not excuse treating others poorly. The homosexual or transgendered individuals I've known who were jerks before they came out are still jerks after they came out.

* The reason for the 'scare-quotes' is that I have honest doubts that the guildie in question is transgendered. I'd drop them if I knew the story was legit.

** And before it comes up, I doubt ANY massive life revelations that are made by a guildie who was kicked for chronically creating drama, not just ones that are related to gender or sexual preference.

Drama Mamas: The combustible combination of minors and romance {WoW}

Mar 4th 2011 11:50AM Just to be clear, are you implying that it could be good for a 15 year old girl to sleep with a 30 year old man that she only knows through the internet?

As a 30 year old man, I think I can safely say, "Thank God you *don't* have kids."

Breakfast Topic: What do other players do that really annoys you? {WoW}

Jan 25th 2011 11:18AM @ Stardusted - I think if you go out and buff / heal people looking for praise, you're going to be disappointed most of the time, and not let down occasionally. If you just do it because it's the type of person you are, not expecting praise, you're going to get a kick occasionally when someone is gracious.

@ Kevin - Wow. Just wow. They healed you or buffed you because they pitied you, and that makes you angry? Are you the sort of person who gets angry when someone holds a door for them IRL?

The Care and Feeding of Warriors: Protection Warrior 101 {WoW}

Jan 22nd 2011 11:11PM No matter the set bonus, T2.5 wouldn't be worth it because of the raw lack of stats ... unless of course you're talking level 60 cap (?).
