May 23rd 2011 3:36AM Once again you guys forget pvp. Reason for mana cost changes is as holy your mana return vs. almost every other healer is stupid (In PvP only that is. . lets be honest Divine Plea is quite the mana return cd vs. other classes). So they lowered it but they are "trying" to make holy more viable in pvp with adding another instant heal option to help with cc lockout cause lets be honest holy is terrible in arena atm.

Which also explains the changes to your tier set inc. . .cause they cant completely gut holy so in order to make it still good they made changes to that to keep you in line somewhat with other healers for PvE.

PvP - mana costs / instant heal option

PvE - beacon fix / tier splash

Now i dont know if the PvE fixes will align you completely but the PvP ones will definately lower your advantage and disadavantage over other healers.

Mar 27th 2011 1:50PM I think that most of us mages have to understand just like blizzard has to, not all specs can be viable for both at high ends of the spectrum. Even for rogues sub is still not an awesome raid spec either but you dont hear the rogues crying foul. Cause they come to understand that its a pvp spec. Frost is a great pvp spec, but honestly even my mage brethren will say frost is a pretty damn boring pve rotation anyway.

Frost damage in pvp is good not fantastic like other classes seem to think. Ya we set you up for failure but thats what frost does. Control and doing the right damage at the right time not faceroll button spammers like some classes. IMO its not worth chopping the nutz off a great spec so you can take the nostolgia into a raid.

Dec 9th 2010 9:53PM For aoe damage of 4+ mobs i usually consecrate from the start ( before you start blazin me, at 85 you are going to have 20k+ mana so shush) which allows the tank to get aggro then divine storm > holy wrath, any 3 stack of Holy power should go into inquision > TV for filler > then hammer of wrath to finish. Now you have to think backwards for aoe dps. . forget CS and DS on cd followed by HW and fill with judgement to keep your mana going for HW and consecrate. The most important thing about trash dps is that you have to know when to switch gears. When the 4th mob dies you have to be ready to switch back into single target dps mode otherwise that nice meter topping aoe dps starts to fall down the list.

Not saying this is the best way but what i use is a version of this:

-->3hp IQ >start conse>DS>HW>TV>HamW>Judge>Dplea

Dec 9th 2010 4:19PM I think all you QQers about ret dps is rather ignorant to put it mildly. I AM a 85 ret dps and i do just fine being competitive on the top spot on the meters. Anyone that isnt 85 yet i remind you, plz, remember that as you level your hit and expertise requirements change as you do so. SO your dps is going to go up and down as you level and change gear. Till you hit 85 and get capped properly.

Now if you are 85 and still having troubles i ask you this. . is inquisition up 100 percent? Are you using zealotry properly. For those that find themselves lost with nothing to push i bet money you had forgotten these along the way. Another thing trash dps rotation is different from single target rotations. . i know thats a stretch for some of you rets but wrath is over.

So remember inquisition is just like rogues slice and dice if it falls off so does your dps, use your cds properly instead of popping them poorly. And guardian of anicent kings is absolutely baller. Those that are leveling have patience your day may come.

Apr 29th 2010 8:33AM But the enrage requirements has ALWAYS been more forgivable in 10 because they have less dps. Dont put up technicallity. Crude numbers is not the reason why. . .the stiffer dps requirements have always been on 25 man because the amount of people. I cant wait to see if they go through with this. . if they scale up the amount of incoming damage and healing with dps requirements to 25 all the small guilds are going to sweat bullets and scream for the nerf bat.

Of course this wont happen. . they will soften or water down 25 so it scales the same with 10. . more dps more ehps. Just imagine if this change happened in icc release and 25 LK was downed before 10 man? What would be your excuse then?

Apr 29th 2010 8:00AM This change would actually hurt both sides really. For big guilds they take away the motivations for doing 25 man content. With the rewards marginal now what holds them to dealing with all that goes with maintaining a 25 man raid group. Bringing in subs would now be risky. . those who may come in for a few bosses now loses their chance to improve progressively with the raid group because they wont be able to get gear out of 10 man to keep pace. All things in maintaining a 25 man raid would be risky. . .how would a raid leader maintain or even ask members to deal with all those risks when 10 man offers the same reward although less but with less risk.

For small guilds it promotes all that you want. . .equality. But at what price? Destruction at the more challenging parts of the game so you can flash your epeen just as big? Dont come to me saying 10 man is harder than 25 because i have gotten all my first boss kills in 10 man before 25. Gear scaling is not a reasonable excuse blizzard specifically designs the fights around people in the appropriate gear level which gives 10 man people just as much to clear 10 vs 25. The only reason you see 10 man world first before 25 is they take their 10 best guys to kill and learn it first. We all know this. . you know this so dont kid yourself.

But all in all i have seen interesting points . . .what about the actual "casual" player. The one that isnt in a guild at all? Or even in such a small guild that they dont even have 10 people to raid? So they pug raids right? With lockouts being shared i see an incoming of getter gear restrictions then is present now. They will look at peoples gear, raid experience, current achievements and kick those that dont meet the requirements to the curb because you are a risk. If you fail the raid group there is no hope of replacing you because no one will risk their ONE lockout on a already in progress raid instance. Forget how fast 25s will fall apart imagine not even being able to pug. Think about not being able to do VoA because you arent part of a guild that has a current 10 or 25 man raid group? For those that wish to start raiding in cataclysm your hopes of starting is low. People dont know you. . .wont trust you because of this you are risky. Recruiting will be such a chore and more of a "job interview" process because of the risk of being new.

Apr 28th 2010 10:42AM Excellent point. For all the good they think they are going to do for "casual" raiders all its going to do is leave them out. All those pugs that the hardcore raiders create running their alts we are going to see you a casual raider as a risk factor greater than we do now. Not only for time wasted but possibly the risk of saving a single raid lockout with mediocre player hurting the group. AND of course if the group fails cause the others cant pull their weightt replacements wont be found because no one will save their SINGLE lockout to a raid already in progress.

These changes make casual's risky. . .taking one look at you with all of the above requirements that are basically standard in todays raid environment and kicking you to the curb very quickly.

Apr 28th 2010 10:17AM To clearify Grakaron's position i support currently 10 man raiding is a joke. I took my alt week from hitting 80 with full i232 gear with a group with the same average of gearscore and killed LK with that 10 percent buff. I run around with my shammy in full T9 232 and the two axes that you get out of forge of souls sporting the kingslayer title. 10 mans isnt and never will be hard. They wont boost the difficulty of 10 man to make it comparable to 25 man they will water down 25 man.

Point and fact. You will have a bunch of people that can at least get 11/12 in icc currently but put them all together and they may be able to get 6/12. Another fact going back two contents ago. Algalon's big bag does about 90k damage unmit with the same number of tanks available to soak but on 25 its what 120k? If you apply to current they arent going to make LK's soul reaper hit for 40k in 10 man. Most peoples arguement. . more healers? Thats why? Not really. . with the amount of other damage going out raid wide due to infest. . .defile you still at most have two healers controlling the soaking tank's health through that event.

The other point is raiding efficiency for cat. . .25 man will drop more loot? Well how much is that? Think back we will say voa for an IE. . .some cloth item drops that you want. BUT you have to roll against other priests, warlocks, and mages. Now compare this to 10 man. . same thing drops. . .but there maybe at most two other cloth wearers in your group that you have to roll against where in 25 you may have ballooned to 9 or more. What do you think is your better chances?

Death to 25s? To early to tell but it looks grim. . think back to those raids where you have 3 maybe 4 or 5 people that constant stand in bad stuff, stand in the wrong spot, or kill others due to lack to awareness or even having an once of care. Do you want to have another frustrating expansion pulling your hair out with them? Or do you want to take your 9 best guys with you and kill the content together probably gearing faster than them cause they are still wiping to easy bosses?

Apr 27th 2010 5:07PM @ Cigan I have full T 10 with main for both main spec and Offspec plus having 3 other alts that have full t 10 for their main specs as well. I play at MOST 4 days out of the week. Could it be that you just suck? Cause even my alts havent seen past saurfang while my main kills Heroic raid content. Frost isnt that hard to come by. Stop buying primordial saronite with them. Alot of excuses.

But in this case ill quote you. . "you still have to be dedicated and not suck. . ". If you want what others have then you have to earn it just like everyone else. And dont give me the 90 percent crap line. Thats blizzard's press release on why they are doing what they are doing but in all truth if that was really the case you would have seen more of a drastic raid change done in BC allowing the use of casual raiding then not all the way into wotlk. They got fed up with the QQ so they give you 10 man raids of the same instance. "well their gear is better than mine" Thus leads us to the gear drops going to be the same. . .casual gamers. Nothing will ever be rare or prestige anymore because it will either be given or bought in the blizz store. the end.
