Oct 26th 2011 8:57PM Seth is a really, really great gamer. I worked for a video game tournament series at one point and he did a piece on us. He spent half the time trying to figure out whether or not we were doing 'games on tv' the right way, and the second half telling me how if I loved Ultima Online, I should try Eve and chatting about a ton of games along the way.
Awesome guy, awesome piece.
May 3rd 2010 12:23PM As someone who recently upgraded to a new computer with a real graphics card, I was actually very impressed at the spell effects. Sure, the landscape looks nice and the building design is well done, but try going from minimal particle effects (how i've played since release) to max graphics on the spells... It's crazy!
Tiny things like the DK's Icy Touch are just plain gorgeous.
I recall playing EQ1 where the spell effects just looked... ridiculously blocky and hideous even as the game aged.
Apr 22nd 2010 1:42PM I really enjoyed this post. Specifically it seemed (and I could be wrong as I don't follow everything) that you just reshaped ghostcrawler's actual responses into something more readable :D
I dug it.
Apr 12th 2010 11:50AM I believe that looking for specific dungeon still fills it up with Random people. They just have to match all the requirements. I.e. if you select 'Heroic Halls of Reflection,' it will only pick random people who meet the proper gear requirements, etc.
Apr 12th 2010 11:43AM To the reader who asked about 'trying and failing to get his g/f to play wow' - I've been there and the more pressure or encouragement (i.e. buying books, etc) you put on her, the worse it will become.
She has to make her OWN decision on the topic and gain interest on her own. If every time it's you bugging her 'hey honey, wanna play?' she really won't enjoy it. Just try to do the cute stuff in game when she walks by i.e. the egg harvesting for holidays, etc.
To Alex - what's going on with the Cataclysm changes reader submissions? I posted one the first day which was fairly lengthy and don't see any way via seed for editors to communicate with us. There have been two super-short posts for Breakfast topics but nothing more. Is there a timeline for these to be read through and potentially posted?
Apr 8th 2010 6:20PM Has nothing been said yet about the Priest's 1-20 leveling experience? I wanted to rip my eyes out until I finally got the heirloom staff. Were I a new player just trying out the priest for the first time, I would have quit by level 8. The holy spells are just so underpowered and my priest had a hard time taking down a solo mob one level below him without healing 3-4 times through and going OOM.
Apr 7th 2010 12:43PM I've been tanking Blood since lvl 55 (did a brief stint with Frost but didn't like the rotation) so this seems natural to me. However, I hope that they retain some of the tanking 'ideas' created by the different tanking trees:
1) Choose between the 3 different tanking cooldowns
2) Choose between different playstyles: Self-Heals (formerly Blood), Armor (Formerly Frost)
As long as we can still do this within the tree, I'll be happy. If we end up having ALL of these abilities at once.... meh :( Makes my class much more cookie cutter than I would prefer but I'll live with it.
Apr 7th 2010 12:27PM Having rolled a shaman about a week ago, I'm happy to see the changes coming in for enhancement. It's good timing as the majority of posts on the MMO-Champ boards and elsewhere are along the lines of "Top guilds are pulling Shaman from their raids in favor of DK's, should I reroll?"
Apr 7th 2010 12:11PM A few quick (and hopefully simple) questions:
1) My post was written today, when no changes have yet been announced. The post mostly references past events, but there is some wording along the lines of 'Blizzard will announce class changes..." Will those be updated to "Blizzard has announced class changes" and the like? If not, should I edit the post after the changes?
2) The post I submitted was longer than the requested length (I think it was around 920 words). Will that invalidate it, or do you allow longer posts?
Thanks for the opportunity to submit guys :)
Apr 3rd 2010 11:29AM Indalamar and I were in the same guild in Beta. He doesn't push for nerfs very often. In fact, he is one of the strongest supporters (or was at the time) of 'buff don't nerf.' In this case, however, there was just a string of ridiculous abilities that tied together and caused insta-kills on mobs with no downtime whatsoever.
