Oct 8th 2010 1:49AM I'm really looking forward to an environment when Threat meant something. In BC, you actually had to *manage* your threat. As a DPS you *could* blow over a tanks threat if you were geared unintelligently or if you didn't watch your threat meter, and here's thing thing: it was intentionally built that way. What the point of even having a threat mechanic if it doesn't need to be managed? CC being required again will let the skillful folks shine, and the useless idiots will get vote-kicked. Having a reputation as a *good player* will really mean something.
Oct 3rd 2010 2:55PM I was *soooo* thinking that. Mako Cannon FTW!
Oct 1st 2010 12:27PM Definitely, taking your time is a worthy tip. In addition...
2. Secondary professions are worth the effort, fishing/cooking/first-aid. Work on them *as you level* because the mats you need to level them you come by with no effort as you go, but if you get to the cap then you have to go farm/buy/beg/steal mats to level these up.
3. Speaking of professions, gathering professions will earn you more money on the auctions house (yes, there *is* an auction house), but if you take a production profession then work on that as you go too.
4. You'll never find the way into Undercity the first time unless you follow someone in.
5. When someone asks the colour of your chest armor, they want to know the rarity of that gear not the actual *colour.* "Actually, it's a pretty purple colour that I rather like..."
Sep 27th 2010 2:56AM Since my PC lags out when I go to Dalaran, so bad sometimes that the game actually freezes and I have to force-close it and log back in again, I've been "taking the long way" around Azeroth for quite some time now. Profession dailies, trainers, and badge vendors are needed from time to time so I have to set my hearths in Dalaran for that, but unless I *have* to go there I avoid it at all cost. I'll take the zeppelin from Orgrimmar or Undercity, I'll piece together my own flight paths to avoid flying *through* Dalaran because the lag would follow me if I didn't. The Dungeon Finder made it possible to do Violet Hold for me without needing a Warlock summon and for that I'm very grateful. Ports might be gone from Dalaran and Shattrath, but I don't think I'll be all that affected by it. I just hope Zephyr is still in the bar in Shattrath so I can get to Tanaris easily!
Sep 5th 2010 2:54PM ::Nod:: And it's tough to find a chance to learn them, and play with them in this environment. Everything's so "Go, go go!" and you hardly have any time to stop and think. Maybe the key here is to find a group of friends to run with who don't mind playing it slow a little, and even though it's not necessary, go through dungeons using a bit of proper strategy. Make a chance to play with these spells, or brush up on them if it's been a while. It's a shame we can't down-level our toons a little and run older instances with a proper challenge.
Sep 4th 2010 3:20PM It is very boring, and worse: it takes no skill at all to do. I've missed Sheep so much in this expansion that I look for excuses to use it, and when I do people are very surprised. Same with Counterspell and Spellsteal. Those who know none but the AoE easy-mode of Wrath are going to get a pretty jarring wake-up call come Cata. Those who cultured their skills of using their utility and CC spells will be a fair bit better off.
