Breakfast Topic: What's your WoW grudge? {WoW}

Mar 15th 2012 12:42PM I wonder what happened to my old nemesis--Hogger. I'll visit the stockades to check him out.

I remember the first time years ago trying to down him. He handed me my twat. But it was the first Hogger kill that hooked me onto WOW.

I've leveled a couple of alts, but downing Hogger on the alts was easy.

Profanity filters, homophobic slurs, and Blizzard's shaky relationship with the LGBT community {WoW}

Jan 25th 2012 1:53PM The term faggot originates during medieval times. It originally meant a bundle of kindling wood. Church authorities condemned homosexuals to death by burning. However, homOsexuals were deemed unworthy of being tied to a stake.

These condemned men were placed within the kindling bundles below the stake. This is how the term faggot came to apply to homosexuals.

WoW Rookie: How to gear up for Raid Finder {WoW}

Dec 9th 2011 3:20PM My alt iLevel is held back due to 346 helm and shoulder. I am also new to healing. My issue is difficulty healing random heroics.

I wish there was an upgrade path for these two slots that does not depend on compleating 4.3 heroics

Paragon: We're sorry we cheated {WoW}

Dec 8th 2011 10:29AM Paragon posted a mature and reasoned response to their ban by way of public apology. Compare their apology to Endidia when Blizzard censured them.

A permanent ban is unreasonable and just plain mean. The penalty serves to correct the competitive imbalance created by the exploit.

Breakfast Topic: How do you feel about using guns in WoW? {WoW}

Oct 10th 2011 1:49PM I'm attracted to the high gothic theme of World of Warcraft. I find the intrusion of technology into this theme kind of distracting because they are too noisy.

I never liked the distracting roar of those road hog motorcycles I see some ride in the game. The sound of gunfire during a raid fight isn't exactly gothic either. I'd just as soon see the game limited to swords, bows and magic.

Blizzard probably will not rid my experience of these devices, but maybe they could put a muffler on those motorcycles and silencers on those guns.

Blizzard introduces tradable "Guardian Cub" companion pet, purchasable through the Blizzard Store {WoW}

Oct 10th 2011 1:39PM I don't see this as gold selling. The gold sellers offer you a set amount of in game currency for dollars. Blizzard is selling a bind on equip object for $10, not gold.

Notwithstanding that the purchaser can auction off the pet, there is no guarantee as what, if any, in game currency may be realized.

Arcane Brilliance: On the 12th tier and the set bonuses thereof {WoW}

May 16th 2011 9:34PM I hope Blizzard resists modifying Spellsteal. I play random battlegrounds. I've not had opportunity to enter arenas. For me Spellsteal has come to the forefront of my PvP arsenal during Cataclysm.

During Wrath I found that my burst damage was what I could contribute to the fight. In Wrath, with the changes in stamina and resilience mechanics, burst damage isn't the same.

In Cataclysm, finding a healer in the opposition is easy, and Spellsteal greatly aids in disabling the healer. I also note there are addons that easily highlight the healer in a fight. I think disabling these addons rather then nerfing this signature ability may bring the balance that Blizzard seeks.

Speaking of a class signature ability, I can't help but reflect on the recent nerfs Blizzard made to the discipline priest's Power Word: Shield. Blizzard may have created a compelling play style, but I've heard a number of healers were compelled to go elsewhere.

Arcane Brilliance: Assorted patch 4.1 thoughts {WoW}

May 2nd 2011 7:48PM In arcane, with only the mage's Intelligence and Arcane armor buffs up, I am able to maintain my mana at or near 100% indefinitely, sustaining dps output on the raid dummy of 11.3. My iLvL is 448.

To achieve this, I spammed arcane blast up to three, and then continued to spam until Arcane Missiles procced. The probability is certain that Arcane Missiles will have procced by the time the AB stack reaches three.

To me, this observation is very good news for me in a high mobility fight as it's no longer necessary to maintain the AB stack to obtain acceptable baseline throughput.

Arcane Brilliance: A Cataclysm 101 guide for mages {WoW}

Dec 6th 2010 3:44PM My priority for Focus Magic (FM) in the absence of another arcane Mage is first a caster who will always be casting and second, the one with highest crit.
In the question about healer vs. dps casters in a 5-man random dungeon I would go with the warlock. The warlock will always be casting. Beakers have a mana management concern and less likely to always be casting.

Raid Rx: Raid healing rotations and fun-ness {WoW}

Sep 24th 2010 12:06PM I'm leveling a healing priest through the lower level instances using the dungeon group finder. I realized in reading this article that I've already adapted the style of play GC described in the blue post.

The reason is that in these groups my job is not so much to keep the party alive--that's been easy enough so far--but to keep it moving. The other participants want to level quickly. They do need to get through the content quickly as well as learning the roles they adapted.

As the healer hat means conserving and regenerating mana. To this end ealing decisions are made on the need to stabilize rather then restore to health.
