Sep 23rd 2010 1:40PM Not using the dungeon finder? I laughed as I read this one. I can just hear the F-bombs dropping in the dungeon finder crowd.
Sep 21st 2010 1:05PM Looking at the map of Azeroth, there is no facility for another continent. I would think it likely that, like Outland, new terratories will be accessed through a portal.
However, the similarity ends there. With the release of Wrath, Blizzard made the decision to return World of Warcraft to its gothic roots. I would not see a return to the Burning Legion.
Sep 13th 2010 5:01PM Applause! Christian sees the fun in the pile of nerfs. He probably is the child who found the pony in the pile of horse manure.
I've read a lot of QQ coming out of the PTR realms. I suspect there are raiders who have become comfortable with their present talents, gear and specs. They are uncertain how they can adapt to the changes. And they are problably anxious about how the changes impact their standing in their guilds.
Maybe Blizzard will succeed in raising the fun factor. Me thinks Cataclysm will toss around something other then then scenery.
Sep 1st 2010 10:11AM Back during the 1980s my brother was arrested while playing Dungeons and Dragons. It turns out his host was a burgler. Unfortunately for bro, the police searched him--and found marijuana in his coat pocket.
Mom and Dad hired an attorney who thought the police search was illegal. The case against him actually went to trial. During cross examination, the prosecutor took Lee to task for wasting his youth playing Dungeons and Dragons. I got the impression he was on trial for being a nerd--not possession.
Jun 14th 2010 4:32PM I would like to respec to fire for certain fights in ICC. But I'm in a guild where any lapse in dps is likely to get me replaced. So I stay with tried and true Arcane. But I can't help but wonder what I might do on Dreamwalker with all those adds just begging for living bomb?
BTW, it appears that Fire mages are outperforming arcane in ICC.
Jun 14th 2010 12:03PM I too return my character to Hero's Welcome in Dalaran before leaving the game space. It helps me orient myself on my return.
I too left my former guild for another in a different realm. What surprises me is not the change in guild but the change in culture between the two realms. In the future, I'm going to create a test toon in a destination realm before making the change.
Jun 7th 2010 4:41PM I've been with my current guild for four weeks. The guild allows you to roll main spec first, off spec second. There is no restriction on you if you've won a previous drop. Last night I had my first success with drops running ICC 25 having one three rolls for caster gear.
I can't help but wonder about drama that may have arisen because of this unusual run of luck. Three casters offered to buy it off of me. I did not accept because I needed the upgrades. But the offers make me think the raid leader may have had subsequent issues about this.
While reading other comments it occurs to me that some of the loot systems are becoming irrelevant because gear is acquired by accumulating emblems. I'm finding I am substantially rewarded for each raid run with the not insignificant gain in frost emblems.
Jun 4th 2010 5:31PM Regarding the battered hilt issue, I had a similar issue with a former guild where the GM demoted me from the raiding team. One of my guild mates asked me to enchant a piece of gear. After completing the enchant he asked me in guild chat what I wanted for the mats used to do the enchant. I responded the AH value was 20 gold.
He opened a chat window and paid me 40. I responded in guild chat "Thank you". Momentarily, the GM whispered me her displeasure that I had charged another guild member for doing an enchant. I attempted to explain that I had not asked for or expected compensation and had in fact done so with my own mats. However, she banned me from the raiding team until "my behavior improved". I found another guild.
My lesson learned, keep any discussion about compensation out of guild chat. It generally is not a good idea to do business with guild mates. I will enchant for guild mates as a courtesy, They need to furnish their own mats.
I've since started using a lowbie alt to post on the auction house.
May 25th 2010 12:17PM Lars,
You are right on the money--literally. In late stage Wrath many are gearing alts. I've been turning over 1-2 Merlin's a week. The key is to control the cost of the orbs. About two months back the risk ratio was three to one yielding a profit of 2200 gold for 1100 in mats.
The margin has dropped significantly. However, my daily activities usually yields sufficient orbs to make this worthwhile.
May 25th 2010 10:54AM I empathize. I started WoW during the BC expansion but Wrath dropped before I reached lvl 58 to start BC.
WoW is and should be a social experience. Unfortunately, I experienced little social interaction until I reached the end game. Outland was a social experience.
