Amended solution: Don't roleplay on Virtue, roleplay on Union. =P

The Mittani gets hit with ban and resigns in wake of EVE Online controversy {Massively}

They condone it because they stripped all authority from him and have banned him from the game at all for at least a month? Overreaction, much?

Sure, it's lighter than it could have, and probably should have, been, but it's hardly condoning. To condone his actions they'd have to not punish him at all. All they've done is show that they're willing to give even a total douchebag a second chance. *shrug*

Mar 28th 2012 9:51PM To be fair, they're doing a slightly better job in newer content of having continuity and making characters recur past their initial appearance.

And on the other hand, isn't the lack of set structure for these things a blessing in some ways? I know, if you want your character to not be pigeonholed into being what the game story says you can just say so, but that never feels good. Besides, CoH is one of the few games where it's plausible to roleplay a character as someone who actually does go out and beat up dozens of mooks on any given day. Point being, the game may not go as far as others to immerse you in its own story, but it does better than just about any to avoid pulling you out of your own stories.

The Soapbox: Leveling isn't bad -- its implementation is {Massively}

Mar 28th 2012 7:24AM Thanks Beau! You inspired me to just start writing my thoughts on MMO odds and ends on my never-before-used Tumblr. It'll be nice to have a collection so my future self can review how stupid I was at various points. :D

Anyway, yeah. Here's my response to something you said here, which is what I mean: http://nonsensicles.tumblr.com/post/20058522300/yes-beau-mmos-are-like-politics

The Perfect Ten: Types of loot that get me excited {Massively}

Mar 22nd 2012 10:36AM CoH has so many temporary powers. You get them for just about everything. I love collecting them, not to use, but just to have because maybe someday I will use them to do silly, silly things. The weapon powers are the best, because you can hit the button to use them without a target and you'll draw the weapon for all to see without actually using it and losing a charge.

Mar 22nd 2012 3:06AM 'A level 5 Damage IO'

Isn't level 10 the lowest level IOs come in?

Anyway, I really recommend anyone trying to figure out their character build should pick up Mids' Hero Designer: http://www.cohplanner.com/

It's not strictly necessary, but it makes things so much easier than trying to plan it out in your head or even with your own spreadsheets.

'I'm not playing it therefore I can't imagine anyone else is!' That sum it up?

Actually, I'm not playing it either, but I can easily imagine there's a lot of people who still are.

Expansion as a whole, no, but specifically the part where the last big patch is out and the next expansion is still waiting? Yes, there's always a bit of a drop in existing players continuing their subscription through that period.. They just don't publish those numbers because no one has expected them to until now.

Also, it doesn't apply to end of Vanilla, which wasn't an expansion. ;)

The Soapbox: Voice chat is the worst thing ever {Massively}

I know plenty of us, but perhaps you don't hang around with roleplayers. Not that everyone who roleplays despises 'toon', just that there tends to be a larger proportion with the class and dignity to do so. ;)
