Arcane Brilliance: I hope for an icy apocalypse {WoW}

May 20th 2010 10:31AM That's precisely what I was talking about above, but said much better.

"... all that does is blur the lines between specs and dilute distinction, and really, rob the player of any meaningful decisions. if you don't like ice mage pve, well, there are 9 other classes to choose from! ... "

Making a frost mage dps competitive in raids is just a really stupid design concept. We as mages would be the first to complain if other class utility specs suddenly became competitive and started out dps'ing us.

May 19th 2010 2:32AM The problem with this age old question is not why IS a frost spec not viable for dps, but why SHOULD a frost spec be viable for dps?

Different specs do different things, and competitive dps is NOT what a frost spec is for. Making frost competitive with arcane is a stupid and unbalancing move.

Feb 10th 2010 12:34PM I'm not sure I understand where you're coming from when you write that you would like to see various spells from the frost / frostfire spec buffed so that they can be "more competitive" with the other specs when it comes to damage.

Why should the specs be competitive? They are different, that is the key. One has best single target damage, the other has best AoE damage, and the other two rely on control (snares and roots). It all depends on your goals and how you like to play. To make ALL the specs competitive with each other in damage seems to be missing the point of having different specs that do different things in the first place.
