Mar 17th 2010 11:38PM Its a good idea, but it only works if the tank has generated some global threat or otherwise has threat on everything (pull aggro for example)... Fade only drops all aggro you have at start, so pull aggro + global heal aggro for example. Fading and then casting something that causes threat, like a flash heal, attributes all threat from that flash heal to its caster.
That said I always tend to get pull aggro, no matter where I stand.
Mar 8th 2010 10:35PM Will there be any fights that'll become much more difficult without the burst healing available in WotLK? Or will it continue to be bursty, just less obviously so as a comparison to health pools... Where a 3 second 40k swing means you just need to time your greater heal right, not just afk flash healing.
I can imagine Mimiron being particularly tough for sustained healing done - this fight more than any I've done in WotLK felt like a consistent problem with healers, rather than general strategy for the whole raid caused wipes.
Mar 7th 2010 5:55PM I'm a disc priest that duels rogues. I used to hate rogues - you're told to DoT and use your CC to peel, but psychic scream's cooldown is huge and a 3 second mind control would take 4.5 seconds to cast with a rogue beating on you. I'm not good at arena or even battlegrounds, but with 1356 resi I haven't lost a duel against a rogue in disc spec where I didn't d/c.
The basic strategy is to keep dots up to prevent a restealth, bubble yourself every time its off cooldown (reflective shield is beautiful) and if you can afford to, fear + mind control with DoTs ticking. It takes a while but against rogues with similar gear levels (highest I've duelled was 1336 resi to be fair), its particularly effective.
Mar 3rd 2010 10:53AM Using Twin Valk as a benchmark for holy healing (I haven't gotten past plagueworks in ICC, raid one night a week) - I can see how either bonus would be effective. PoM tank, Glyphed CoH pretty much anyone in the raid, SoL a tank, reset CoH anyone in the raid and you're looking at big HPS and little overhealing.
With this, PoM tank, glyphed CoH, SoL tank, renew someone taking a significant amount of damage while PoM and CoH reset. I rarely use casted flash heals over instant ones, but it can enter the playstyle if you're a first responder to a wounded dps below 50%, or you already have renew up on the tank and its a high damage phase. With imp and emp renew (possibly even glyphed) renew tends to come out third on my hps, even with a bunch of druids rolling HoTs everywhere. I prefer having flash heal glyphed since it tends to put a bigger dent in my mana than renew when I do use it.
Mar 1st 2010 12:57PM If you want a firewall, Online Armor is your best bet: http://www.tallemu.com/
Unfortunately its not compatible with windows 64 bit so I'm using Norton atm, but there you go.
Mar 1st 2010 5:44AM Save yourself and let them (the other dps) suffer.
Feb 27th 2010 6:48AM I see gains on resi on the tooltip from 1230-1320, so I'm guessing that the cap is higher than 1320. I heard 1400 somewhere, but can't provide any evidence for that.
Feb 27th 2010 6:29AM The only time a dps should be interrupting a healing spell is if its in a clutch moment and they know they can drop the priest in the next 4 seconds. The only time a priest would stop to cast penance when a dps is within interrupt range is if they really need the heal. With 2500 spellpower, rank 4 penance will hit normally for up to 2.8k per tick. If they 're interrupted after the first tick, they'll have received 1.4k healing with a mortal strike effect on them, have no healing spells for the next 4 seconds and their penance will be on cooldown further to that. If weakened soul has a 10 second duration on top of that as well, it should be relatively easy to drop the disc down after that.
Interrupting mana burn gives them free healing spells for the next 10 seconds, as well as smite and holy fire on your healer if that's who you're looking out for. They'll be able to get off 3 or so mana burns if your healer is standing still on top of that too - unless your burst is high enough for them to not risk using offensive cooldowns. Some disc healers spec and glyph for smite dps, which provides viable burst for 2s.

Penance skill: holy.
Also, hunters can viper sting and priests can't dispel it and since it doesn't have a cast time, can't LoS.
Feb 25th 2010 9:39PM Worth noting that AFAIK you can mind sear the cult adherents and if there are no mages, dispel their shroud. The only thing to look out for is if they're mutated or reanimated they become resistant to magic, at which point you should yell at the melee and start dpsing lady d.
