Pandaren shaman totems revealed {WoW}

Mar 29th 2012 1:52PM Notice no one says "Ooh, I love my Tauren totems!"

The model itself isn't that bad, but it is both plain and frankly, boring after eight years (six of those years being the only totem model at all).

Mists of Pandaria: Chris Metzen interview {WoW}

Mar 19th 2012 11:47AM I was left thinking, "Wow! He admits it -- a lot of the Horde lore-love is a bunch of white geeks wanting to play 'gangsta.'"

WoW Moviewatch: Racial Stereotypes {WoW}

Jan 31st 2012 12:52PM Except when they're my law school's professional responsibility professor -- then they're a shaman.

That was the most awesome awkward conversation ever ...

Jan 25th 2012 12:44PM The Schley house:
Two bedrooms, two people, three cats ...
Nine computers.

(Dear God, why did I marry a computer programmer?)

Blue Posts and Other WoW News: No druid gear displayed in feral/moonkin form, no fourth spec for other classes {WoW}

Dec 20th 2011 12:03AM I don't particularly care about my armor ... but it would be cool to see my tanking staff slung over the back of my bear.

That, or let us have more options for colors/patterns. Looking at the same bear ass for 70+ levels gets a little boring.

The Queue: Hogwarts this ain't {WoW}

Dec 8th 2011 1:06PM I will say, I have done the "need to give to my friend/sister/husband/guildmate." But I only do so after I see someone in the group need on an upgrade for my companion that the ninja simply can't use. (e.g. hunter/rogue/warrior/DK needs on int/spirit gear. I will often comment to such people that they only need more int IRL.) It is no sin to ninja from a ninja!

Dec 5th 2011 1:19PM To use another context, women on average make less money doing the same job than men do, and that is seen as being grossly unfair. If they do the same amount of work, they should get the same amount of pay. On the flip side, someone that does less work should get less pay.

Sorry, not true. That 78% figure you see bandied about doesn't control for job type, work benefits, hours spent at work, and years of experience. The "average woman" makes less because she works a less skilled job for fewer hours and works for fewer years over the course of her career. Of course, the "average woman" also works a physically safer job with greater job security (particularly government work, where one is more likely to die than get fired). In fact, gender pay discrimination is so minimal that in Manhattan, the average woman in her twenties makes more than the average man, because the average woman is now better educated and thus more likely to have a job.

Officers' Quarters: Friends and family {WoW}

Dec 5th 2011 12:51PM @Piper. WoW has been around for seven years. As a manager, I would be very leery of hiring someone who had 5+ jobs on the resume since November 2004. Yes, there can be good reasons for that much bouncing around, but it's also possible that they are a prima donna who can't get along with other people or a slacker who does as little as possible until someone finally fires their lazy rear or their guild/store goes out of business.

I'll admit I have not had much guild experience myself, particularly in how they can grow and die within a year. The guilds I've either been in or applied to be in were multi-year, well-run and long established guilds, so it may not be fair to judge other guilds by those standards.

I will stand by my sentiment that if someone is repeatedly joining a guild, becoming a valuable member of the raiding team, and then leaving because "the guild leader's a moron!" or "they don't listen to me!", the problem is more likely to be the person and not all the guilds on a server ...

Around Azeroth: Reel big fish {WoW}

Dec 5th 2011 12:34PM And you can't patent fish. You can patent Smylex, the method of creating smiling fish using Smylex, and smiling fish.

Of course, Joker was really needed to get a trademark. It's entirely possible to trademark fish, particularly if the Patent Office rejection the smiling fish patent application ...

I'm such a nerd.
