Apr 3rd 2012 2:47PM druid development right now is depressing me. Bear is at best broken, at worst, a totally flawed design. Resto is clunky and not working out. Our talents are by far the worst of any of the classes that have "completed" trees. I know that we can get it cleaned up some before launch but it is depressing to know that we none of our specs are benefiting from refining an already good design in the beta. rather, the best we can hope for is fixing a crap design.

such is life, at least we have the prot warriors to keep us company.

Apr 3rd 2012 11:33AM Blizzard seems to understand that the "pure dps" class is an outdated concept, GC wrote a nice post on the topic. I think that the future of MMORPGs is hybrid classes. I would not be surprised to see a tank spec be added to warlocks (demon), rogues(combat+), and hunters(pet centric), and a heal spec added to mages(anybodies guess). I would guess that hybridizing those classes is a long term project but the demon hunting glyph seems to indicate that it is a project that has started.

Apr 3rd 2012 11:23AM yes, it will be wierd. To use a static world mmo as a story telling tool requires some compromises. It is possible to imagine an MMO that told stories to the players, AND was extensible enough to not require time travel nonsense a new wow player encounters. WoW is not that MMO, there are a lot of paradigm shifts that would be required, and the mmorpg sacred cow of leveling > endgame would likely need to be re-thought.

In chronological order:
68-80 is one story
58-70 is one story and
1-60, 80-85 is one story

Once MoP launches, a new 85-90 story will be added

Apr 2nd 2012 1:06PM IF you could discern how the glyphs would translate, you could be very rich indeed. As it is, The best advice is to have as much ink on hand as you can going into the patch and plan on making the glyphs after the patch goes live. You might be making a safe bet if you craft some of the glyphs that maintain the same name but it is a gamble I would not take. just bide your time buy cheap herbs and mill them when it is time to move... be ready.

Mar 28th 2012 1:30PM so If, say, you are a druid in flight form and you illusion pot your self next to somebody in fish form, will you end up a flying fish? or will the pot disable shapeshifts?

Mar 27th 2012 2:29PM seems like there are a few ways to look at the OS loot issue.
1. if you want tank gear, you must like to tank... so queue as a tank silly. there is not much point in OS gear if you don't want to use it so queue up and get to it.
2. Blizz should implement a UI element that toggles OS loot when you are raiding LFR. with that enabled the appropriate loot for you is drawn from both your active AND off spec.

If you think about it options 1 and 3 are actually the same. The button to toggle which spec the loot system will use to determine the appropriate loot is the "activate" button on the talent pane. though with option 3 you don't have to play your off-spec to get gear.

I have a hard time wrapping my head around wanting to gear up a spec, but not wanting to PLAY that spec. I heal MS and sometimes OS dps. If I wanted dps gear, I would queue as DPS so that in addition to getting the gear together I would also get practice dps'ing the fights. An OS loot UI toggle might confuse people and really doesn't add anything useful to the game.

Mar 27th 2012 10:28AM first the tanking thing gets "clarified" then this. Warlocks being exited about wow for a week was kinda cool. oh well should have known better.

Mar 20th 2012 12:48PM HGWT is the most amazing tool for raid organization. It is perhaps the only reason that the few 25m guilds that still raid can get the cats herded together efficiently. If they remove it I will mourn its loss. the way to get people out into the world is to PUT INTERESTING SHIT IN THE WORLD. the queues, HGWT, and portals don't keep people out of the world, they keep the world from being an annoying impediment to getting to the content.

it seems that Blizzard has learned the main lesson, at least the tiller thing makes me think that they get it. they are still confused into conflating convenience features like portals with getting people out in the world.

Mar 12th 2012 3:51PM That engineering hat business was a tremendous let down. the whole cogwheel thing was a neat way to give a stat bonus to Eng. To bad there is only one set of hats with sockets (ilvl 359). Why not sack the headpieces and give ENG the ability to attach cogwheel sockets to any hat?
