Spiritual Guidance: Shield spam and Divine Aegis, a theorycrafting story {WoW}

Sep 6th 2010 8:17AM I'm with you on that, on all my toons I Gem to get the socket Bonus (Flame on), I figure I can put in an appropriate Gem and get a decent stat mix. Why loose the itemisation points in the bonus. I do pick Gems where the second stat is beneficial, SP/INT on Priest or Stam/Def on my Tank.

Having a good or a bad day has more chance of changing the outcome of the fight than the slight Min/Max benefits might.

Aug 13th 2010 5:28AM Hi,

Am working on a Drenai Warrior using LFD a fair bit. My main is an Orc Warrior 11/12 ICC so I know the class. LFD has had some great ups and downs on both toons.

One thing to watch out for when leveling is the DPS can be 3 or 4 levels higher than you and even their auto attack will risk a well played tank loosing threat. Had a Stormwind Stockades with 1 asshat Mage whinging about my threat gen. I was lvl 22ish where he was 26 or 27. Wasn't till the end of the run I figured out why he kept pulling agro off me, I never stood a chance. When you get closer to 80 with LFD at least the level differences get less.

As a rage tank less agro = less dmg = less rage it can become a downward spiral.

Apr 26th 2010 7:49AM Hi,

As a fairly well geared Warrior Tank I generally ask for Kings, not because it is better or worse than Might but I can use my own Battle shout AS WELL as Kings so effectively get both. In HC's I don't need the Health from Commanding shout so why not take ALL the Strength, Agility and Attack Power to speed things up?

I may be wrong but I think that Kings & Battle Shout (untalented) would give more total AP than a Holy Pally Might?

I don't think individual Blessings should be looked at individually, the Groups make up and so Buffing synergie can make a difference over what Blessing to use.

Cataclysm Class Changes: Resto druid analysis {WoW}

Apr 13th 2010 6:03AM @ Parker,

Where does the Druid Combat Res come into your thoughts, is that not a Oh Sh*t button? We Run 10 mans mostly and have had the odd night with 3 druids, (Tree, Bear and Boomkin) and having 3 combat reses to fix Oops moments that an Oh SHi*t button would have missed is really great. Even 1 Combat Res is excellent, we really notice it when none of the Druids are on a run.

I guess it is all about balance but not equality, if you have a Combat Res you don't get a Bubble/Pain Suppression. If everyone had the same tools but differnet names than why have so many classes.

Shifting Perspectives: Gearing a fresh balance druid {WoW}

Mar 26th 2010 10:59AM Hi,

I think Tyler is right, do do the Normal versions until kitted OK and know the routine of the HC's. Mostly out of curtesy to the others in your group.

It is not about being uber geared, we none of us were when we hit our first HC's having mostly ilvl 200 Blues is fine, a bit if know how on the instance is stunning and you get Triumph badgers on your 1st random of the day all the way from 70 -80 now (Ding 80 T9 or the neck piece you mention here I come)

I'm a Tank first, healer second and am quite happy to help gear fresh 80's in guild or out, but it is much nicer if I don't feel they are taking the preverbial. Having a sensible gear collection (stat wise) for the spec, gems (green or blue don't waste the purples), and basic enchants, shows a degree of willing that will probably mean I pass on gear rather than shard. Giving said toon more chance of getting gear. Remembering the LFG loot rules don't allow Need on non armour type kit, Oomkins wanting Cloth can't NEED it, so every one not rolling DE increases your chance of getting that Purple Cloth stat upgrade.

As much as anything else it as about being decent to others, both ways.

Spiritual Guidance: On weapons, Nibelung, and the Lich King {WoW}

Mar 19th 2010 4:12AM So right. they Have the game mechanic with the BoA, so why not? take an average of the rest of your instead of your level and use that to adjust the stats, keep the look and proc and you'll hold onto that item for ever. BiS or not quite, so long as it is close, you'll keep it and use it.

The Daily Blues {WoW}

Mar 17th 2010 9:34AM Hi,

As a Warrior Tank I got to agree with 2 of the posts Valt, i too have a HC Tank Spec and a Raid Spec, I opted for Cleave Talented and Glyphed for the HC/trash and Deep wounds for Single Target/raids.

Ozzard I give up when co tanking ICC trash with a Pally Tank, even some of the Alts. On trash I just pull my 1 special mob that needs faced away or held somewhere, Hold it and make sure no late adds get to the healers, I can 't keep up up OAE threat against a Pally, it just isn't worth the keyboard or wrist strain. Is it worth it, nope, don't worry, let them do it.

Single target though and when we swap taunts for Dots debuffs to drop (Saurfang or the Dogs latter on), I get to stop and have a drink after being taunted off of, other wise I risk pulling him straight back, that is a nice feeling.

Breakfast Topic: Fear is the mind-killer {WoW}

Mar 16th 2010 9:21AM Sorry Rossi,

Got to disagree with you on HoR, Best 5man around. I Tanked it first night, no cheats with my usual team of players from years, Stood in the Main door and took it 2nd go. LOS is just bad never seen that work (I have a Disc/Shadow Priest too). Stand in the open and you can see what is coming, A bit of CC or the odd charge/intercept and away you go. The LoS Alcove strat is asking for a screw up.

HC's I don't like.. CoS cause of the start up time, like the idea of the run, hate the waiting.

AddOn Spotlight: Castbars {WoW}

Mar 12th 2010 10:31AM I'd second the Viewport thing, i added it last week and the difference it made is crazy. Took some setting up but it makes the game area clear of everything except My toon Plate, My target, Target target in a row under my feet (I Warrior Tank mostly) and my Focus (and Target) often the OT for watching debuff stacks top right (Xperl).

All the Omen/Chat/Bars (Bartender4) etc are out of the way but stil clearly visible. Another bonus is the smaller screen has less graphics requirement for rendering. It is not updating the bit behind the Chat pane only the bit you want to see. An added bonus is even on a Wide screen monitor it lends an epic film feel to the game play experience.

Up to about a month ago I ran with the standard UI but swapped when I started raiding on a Priest Alt, Xperl first a month ago then Grid/Bartender/Viewport last week.

Build slowly, try something for a HC or 2, then add or remove as you like. No one set up suits all players or classes or screens.
