Totem Talk: Head of shaman healing for a day {WoW}

Sep 6th 2011 4:21PM About Spirit Link Totem:

I think this ability is very useful, however, the fact that I have to run up near the tank then drop it makes it difficult to use as an "oh crud" last second save button (a la lay on hands); therefore I end up using my big instant heal instead and often forego the totem all together. Personally I think it would be a lot more useful if the thing could be thrown near the target you've set focus on (which as the healer in the party more often than not is the tank).

Free for All: The end of physical media {Massively}

Aug 31st 2011 5:57PM @LucentWolf
I'm not sure you're a minority, and if you are, then I'm part of it too. The way I see it is that if I pay for a game I like to own the CD. I've paid for games before that were digital downloads only to lose the computer where it was and never be able to get the game again unless I paid for it again.

Ofcourse this has happened also with CD's where I've lost them too and then I was screwed (I shall always miss thee, Neverwinter Nights).

In any case, if it's F2P MMO's i'm a lot less concerned about not being able to get it again since as long as the game is alive I'll be able to get it, and if it dies I wouldn't be able to play it even if I owned the physical media for it.... but for single player games (i.e. Torchlight), I gotta have it. I paid for it and it's mine even if the company goes under.

The slippery slope: Analysing the decline of World of Warcraft {Massively}

Aug 31st 2011 2:41PM @Oskiee
I totally agree with you on that point. I have been playing WoW since Vanilla and the tone of the game has really changed.

I remember my leveling being challenging enought that it was to my great advantage to run it with one or two friends, now I can ROFLstomp through most mobs one or two levels higher. For instances I had to invite friends or go to the cities and actually talk to people and get them to join... now it's just done for me automatically.

The time before dungeon finder was harder, more frustrating, and much more time consuming, but it encouraged interaction now it only encourages grind.

Just my $.02

Breakfast Topic: The new Darkmoon Faire {WoW}

Aug 26th 2011 3:23PM I see your point. With no actual experience of the area it's hard to make a judgement, however, I have to say that just the advertised changes have made me want to go check it out. I've been playing WoW since Vanilla and I've visited the DMF once in that whole time, was totally underwhelmed, and never went back to see it again. This at least will get me to give it a second try.

The Daily Grind: What was the best change made to your favorite MMO? {Massively}

Aug 25th 2011 9:40AM I think the revamp for the entire leveling experience WoW: Cataclysm brought was my favorite change. I'm an altoholic and having a brand new experience to play through was very welcome. That and Old World flying, that was cool too :)

The Daily Grind: Are appearance tabs essential? {Massively}

Aug 23rd 2011 10:53AM @(Unverified)

I have to say that the lack of appearance tab almost made me quit WoW for other games where I can look like I want (LOTRO!), but now that it's coming I'm sticking around to see how it's implemented.

The way I see it is that if the devs gave us all that we want all the time right from the get go, we'd get bored of the game and demand even more outrageous features... this way the delayed gratification factor keeps people interested... or at least that seems to be the idea.

Breakfast Topic: What's the next big change? {WoW}

Aug 23rd 2011 8:48AM I think that's going to be one of the things introduced in the next X-pac. Considering that some of the leaders already have new models, I don't think it's a real stretch to see that as a sign of things to come.

In fact, I'd prefer to see that than a new race or even a heroic class.

Hopefully we'll also get a more robust character creation engine where we can adjust body mass, height, etc. Maybe not as detailed as EQ, but at least comparable to LOTRO.

Breakfast Topic: World of Prankcraft {WoW}

Aug 22nd 2011 8:57AM We had just decided to leave the boss Chimaeron for the next night's raid and our mage summoned a portal to Org. Since I noticed guildies chatting away in Vent and not paying attention, I threw a lightning bolt at the boss and grabbed the portal.

The swearing over vent was epic! I did pay for the repairs of those who died, but it was worth it.

Breakfast Topic: How will you use the transmogrification feature? {WoW}

Aug 18th 2011 9:41AM You can't. An axe must reskin an actual axe, etc. The only exception to this rule are guns/bows/xbows.

Breakfast Topic: How will you use the transmogrification feature? {WoW}

Aug 18th 2011 9:40AM I'm so glad I held on to my Elements set! Ha, its so retro looking I just have to make it the default look for my Shammy healer. I may replace the shoulders with the Hexlord Shoulders from ZA. The jury is still out on what I want his Enhancement set to look like, but I'm kinda digging the Ten Storms shoulders, even though I used to have them and vendored them... might be worth the trip to get them again.

My DK's RP outfit is a Black Knight look alike, so that'll be his for both specs. Again, I'm thrilled I held on to my DK starting sword!
