Jul 8th 2011 5:00AM You get 1.875 Greater Celestial Essence per Carnelian Spike.
You have 75% chance for Greater Celestial Essence, and when you get the essence, it is either 2 or 3 pieces. I am pretty sure that it is 50% chance for either.
0.75 * (0.5 * 2 + 0.5 *3) = 1.875
You have 25% chance to get dust. According to wowhead you have an equal chance to get 2, 3, 4 or 5 dusts. That's 3.5 on average.
0.25 * (0.25 * 2 + 0.25 * 3 + 0.25 *4 + 0.25 * 5) = 0.875
So on average a Carnelian Spike disenchants into 1.875 Greater Celestial Essence and 0.875 Hypnotic Dust, plus whatever dust you get extra from the guild perk.
Thus if essence is 90 g and Inferno Ruby is 130, you should craft Carnelian Spikes and disenchant them, because this will give you more money (if you can sell your stuff.)
Sep 19th 2010 7:09PM A 3-button mouse would be an upgrade for you??? Do they even produce mice without a scroll wheel?
Sep 19th 2010 11:59AM I have two questions to those who are in the beta:
1. Are Holy paladins still tank healers by default?
2. Are Holy paladins still the best tank healers?
Sep 2nd 2010 2:47PM Damn, this was supposed to be a reply to an earlier post.
Sep 2nd 2010 2:46PM I actually googled BC too, just didn't put it in. While the actual date was maybe announced only in December, there was already a release in October that the expansion would come sometime in January.
Sep 2nd 2010 12:22PM According to a google search Blizzard had announced the release date of WotLK on 15 September, two months before the 13 November street date.
I think it is a safe bet that this time around there will also be at least a 2 months window between announcing the release date and releasing the product. Time is needed to launch the marketing campaign, produce the DVDs, deliver them to shops, etc. (Starcraft 2 had a three months window between the announcment and the release.)
Since we have September already, an October release is pretty much out of question. For a mid-November release they will have to announce the release date in 2-3 weeks.
Mar 15th 2010 4:57AM What talents would be the best for this fight?
I always use 54/17/0, but for this fight I think a retri subspec would be better. (I have no retri or prot offspec, so I can afford to have a dedicated talent build for this fight.) More crits are more healing, and you cannot overheal here.
What would be better, 51/5/15 or 51/2/18?
Also, the Insightful Earthsiege Diamond metagem is kind of wasted here. Which metagem would be the best if the only thing you want is to maximise raw healing output and you don't have to care about mana? (Regemming full spellpower would be way to expensive, but just exchanging the metagem doesn't cost that much. My guild reaches this fight every week, but we still have many wipes here, so every little help could be good.)
Last question: Is the healing done to the dragon affected by the raid wide buff? I don't think it would be, if he is healed directly, but would it work through beacon? (I heal a player, the heal landing on him gets the 5% increase, and this heal gets copied. But based on how pet healing for example works, beacon would most likely copy the heal without the 5% increase.)
