Jun 6th 2011 1:23PM Brilliant summary, Elam. And your point is well-taken and well-timed, what with T11 coming to a close and T12 on the horizon. I think just about every class and spec out there could come up with a list of issues that have been hard-fought and ultimately resolved over the course of multiple expansions. The key is remembering that those issues will get resolved, soon enough.
Mar 3rd 2011 1:30PM Actually, as Lodur mentioned, even including the miss rate into the evaluation, you can generally get as much mp5 as you would from using a Potion of Concentration (in an 8-minute fight). But, the ceiling for returns is much higher than that, given that a handful of bosses include +damage modifiers in the encounter (Valiona, Tron Council, Al'Akir and Maloriak are some of the ones that players tend to forget about).
If you're doubting the performance, feel free to check out my post from last week on the in's and out's of TC, which includes hard numbers from my own logs: http://lifeingroup5.com/?p=2025
Apr 15th 2010 1:13PM Several points that might bear mentioning:
1. For Marrowgar's bone storm, you can increase your raid's collective hps and survivability by having the group stay lightly clumped off center and having your tanks spread to opposite sides of the inner circle. Since Marrowgar will generally target the farthest player away from him (within a limited radius, oh the fun we had testing this), having the tanks on opposite sides will generally result in him pinging back and forth between them, with minimal damage on your raid. As an added bonus for Resto Shaman, the close proximity of the raid means we can turret, dodge fires, and CH our hearts out.
2. On Lady D, Curse of Torpor should be a Shaman's top priority; actually it should be any decurser's top priority, as the effects of the 15second spell CD on your raid's dps and hps can be significant.
3. For Gunship, there's no need for healers to travel to the opposite ship if your tank simply brings the Faction's captain to the edge of their boat. Less travel time means more healing!
4. An alternate Bloodlust strat on Saurfang is to Bloodlust at the onset of the fight. Since Saurfang will gain at a constant rate in the absence of any increased BP through Blood Nova ticks, Blood Beast attacks or late Rune of Blood taunts, 'lusting at the onset of the fight is the only real way to reduce the total number of marks you get during the encounter. But ultimately, the decision of less marks versus increased healing potential at frenzy, is what will determine the ideal timing.
Mar 18th 2010 5:32PM Oh the bloggers are out en masse! Definitely seconding that Charles @ Planet of the Hats bears mentioning--his Elemental work is amazing. And Miss Med shouldn't be missed for the world.
If only Drug was still around to see ShieldsUp.ch listed under "Shaman". He would have been the only Resto needed there (imho, the rest of us are just trying to make up for the loss).
