Jul 4th 2011 9:04AM I became good friends with a guy during the BC days (we were both playing Resto Shaman, so originally bonded over class discussions) and after a year or so, he just disappeared one day. Eventually I talked to him outside of the game and found out he had quit for the time being.
He came back at one point later on, then ended up leaving me again in the same fashion. And then once more. We lost contact with each other for over a year, mostly cause I was so fed up with being ditched, but then long forgot about it.
He contacted me one day and said him and some friends were playing as Horde on a different server. I was between guilds at the time and just looking for something casual, so I decided to move my hunter (my main at the time) to his server and we ended up having a small casual raiding guild there for a few months until people stopped logging in and we couldn't even find random people to fill out our raids. So we looked into moving from our dead server to somewhere a little more populated. Eventually we decided on a place, the people who wanted to move came with us (most of our guild by then had quit entirely) and we started up a new guild there. That guild failed pretty rapidly cause no one would recruit, so the 3 of us that were left joined with another guild. After our first couple raids, my friend decides he doesn't like how this guild runs things. Instead of telling someone that he was not going to raid, instead of telling me he was gonna quit WoW again, he ends up once again quitting the game without telling anyone. (Shortly after our 3rd original guild member quit, but for work reasons and he did actually tell me.)
This friend contacted me again a few months later when I was getting bored with WoW and told me I should try Rift. I decided to take a break from WoW and give Rift a try. I joined up with my friend's guild while I leveled, got to 50, then promptly realized that my friend was not logging in anymore. He went from being on all day every day to only logging in for a couple hours at night for raids. I had never logged in at night, so I'm sure he knew he wouldn't see me on anymore, but alas, he did not tell me of this change, so I assumed he had just quit the game. I have now quit Rift and am debating starting up WoW again.
So anyway, long story short, yes I've been ditched by friends in game. I believe it happened 5 times by the same person. Apparently I am too trusting of people.
Mar 6th 2011 9:44AM I've done both starter zones and wasn't thrilled with either. In terms of which race I like better overall, though, Goblins win hands down. I race changed my mage to a Goblin a few days after Cata hit, and I've been completely happy with her.
I tried leveling a Worgen, but gave up in the mid-20's. I just couldn't get into it, and the female (which I was playing as) seemed unfinished.
Mar 4th 2011 9:22AM I find it hard to play most melee classes, but the one I've never been able to really try is Warrior. I don't enjoy the rage mechanic at all, so combined with being melee, it's just not my type of class.
Jan 8th 2011 8:36AM I don't tend to to be too lucky at the random stuff. I did get an Anzu mount, but I contribute that to effort. My friend and I ran Heroic Sethekk Halls every day in an effort for both of us to get one, which we both did within a month or so.
When it comes to luck though, I think I lose out more often than not. I've now missed Aeonaxx in Deepholm by minutes 4 times in the last 10 days, several of those times I knew he was going to spawn and just wasn't in the right place. And for dungeon mount drops, I just don't ever see them, so winning it isn't even the problem.
I know I'm not completely unlucky, but I also know there are people out there who get things far easier than I ever could.
