Dec 15th 2011 12:09PM pick me!
Aug 4th 2011 2:56PM I've leveled all my toons more-or-less solo on a PvP server and never really had a problem. You'll get ganked every now & again, mostly by 80s (or now, 85s) that are in that zone for whatever reason. A few will be jerks who will camp you, but that's just an excuse to play another toon for a bit. And there will be what I consider epic moments- hovering waaaaaaaaay above Thrallmar while a group of max-level toons battle it out below me, calling in the guildies for backup on a ganker, coming to the aid of guildies, etc.
Disclaimer: My server's very unbalanced in favor of my faction. YMMV.
Jul 31st 2011 2:31AM You shouldn't need to 'scorch weave' as a method of mana management. I have mana problems sometimes as fire too, esp if I'm manually LB-ing a bunch of things. I'm specced away from 1 mana talent (Master of Elements, I think, in the 1st teir), so if you are too that's an option. Usually I am careful in my mana management cooldowns, and if needed swap on mage armor for a bit (Not in any kind of high-dps phase, obviously) and that seems to work.
Jun 7th 2011 1:14PM I do pugging & recruitment for my guild, so my ghost would probably haunt trade chat. On cold, dark nights you can still see her spam for a long-obsolete raid...
Apr 16th 2011 3:51PM I've leveled all my toons from 1 on a PvP server. I wasn't keen on the idea at first, I just rolled there 'cause I knew people there. I don't do much PvP, and I'm terrible at it when I do, but I still enjoy the PvP aspect of it (and I don't do the camping/ganking/griefing thing). Hopping onto my main to avenge the camping of one of my lowbies, responding to a guildie's cry for help, dashing to the rescue of some poor guy trying to do his dailies, being that poor guy... are all surprising moments of unplanned, uncontrolled fun.
Mar 24th 2011 2:14AM I have a variant on that problem- I got so used to porting people to Org that when guildies asked to be ported somewhere else... they got an Org port. 'Course they click on it anyway, and 1 loading screen later guild chat is full of 'Lek...'
Mar 19th 2011 12:24AM Heck, *I'm* ok with groups wiping for weeks on one encounter, even when its my group- LK took us 6 hours of raiding per week for 4 weeks to down once, and when he did go down? Best feeling ever. That's my idea of fun; you seem to have a different one. Blizzard having its own concept of fun is not necessarily a bad thing.
Feb 17th 2011 3:22AM The problem with that is hybrid classes. As a mage I'd be fine with it, but if the ret pally is still stuck with the debuff, that's not terribly fair. And removing it for every class with the capability of dps-ing is the same thing as removing it from the game.
Feb 12th 2011 9:10PM Minor point of correction- your post makes it sound like Ring of Frost is a Frost-spec-only spell, which of course it isn't.
Thanks for an awesome column.
