Blizzard's responses on the Real ID situation {WoW}

Jul 7th 2010 12:21PM @Lee Weaver

I doubt creating a new battle.net account would actually work. Currently if you don't have an active WoW subscription, you will be unable to post on the forums. Chances are, they will maintain the same policy for the new forums.

What I don't really understand is why they can't just use a global screename and tie it to your account. It seems like to me that Blizzard has big plans for battle.net and hopes to expand it to be a social networking service such as facebook.

Officers' Quarters: Mailbox roundup {WoW}

May 31st 2010 1:46PM You gave the guildy a good 4k discount and he was willing and happy to pay 6k for the hilt. It sounds like drama nonsense created by the other guildies putting their 2 cents in.

And that loot system sounds like a poor excuse for progression. If two player have the same wrist piece and a wrist upgrade drops, wouldn't giving it to the better player actually be better for progression? That loot system sounds just as bad as loot council...

Officers' Quarters: A friendly loot system {WoW}

Apr 19th 2010 3:26PM Something like this happened last week for my guild in team B in ICC-10. We just recruited a new elemental shammy to the guild and took him to ICC-10 with us. First of all, I like to say that he was not remotely geared for ICC. His gearscore was about 4.8k but most of his pieces were pvp gear and his trinkets consisted of the +int triumph trinkets and the pvp insignia trinket. He's completely ungemmed has never been in ICC before.

Most of team B consists of alts with 3-4 people in there on their actual main. The shammy won (well given, since nobody rolled against him) 2 pieces of gear through the first 2 bosses and on the gunship battle, the spyglass dropped and some plate piece. I'm a warlock and have lost 3 rolls on it to other guildies previously and was the only dps caster besides him that didn't have it.

the raid leader announces rolls for the plate loot first, and the shammy /rolls a 30. He says "Opps, I though it was for the spyglass, I take it back". 5 seconds before the raid leader announced the roll for the spyglass, he /rolls again, he rolls a 92 and says "Thats for the spyglass". I roll after the loot was announced and rolled a 43.

I'm miffed because hes essentially picking and choosing his rolls, and the officer/raid leader didn't tell him to reroll since he rolled before it was announced. Instead everyone was discussing on officer chat on who to give the loot to so they decided to do it via loot council (voting among officers).

Some of the officers actually voted against me because "it's a bigger upgrade for the shammy" while I was still wearing my abyssal rune (ilvl200 from ToC-5 normal, which i ran close to 20 times to get) and trimph trinket for hit. The problem for me is that the shammy had that insignia pvp trinket as his trinket that has a high GS and takes absolutely no effort to get... any PvE trinket would be a "massive" upgrade for him.

In the end I was just tired of it and took matters into my own hands and told him to reroll because his rolls came in before the loot was announced. He /rolled and got a 39 so I got the spyglass.

Sorry for the long rant. The common courtesy for him would be to pass on the spyglass since he was getting carried and received 2 pieces of loot already, it's what I would have done, but I don't really expect it from other people, esp new recruits. I think I'm just more miffed at the fact that he got to roll twice before the loot was announced and picked which roll he wanted for the spyglass and the fact that the officers were letting him do it. Not to mention that a few of the officers voted for him because it was a "bigger upgrade" for him from pvp trinket -> spyglass, esp when the pvp trinket takes absolutely no effort to farm.

AddOn Spotlight: Priest, mage, warlock addons {WoW}

Apr 16th 2010 3:55AM As a demo warlock I'm not a big fan of forte, in theory it has everything you need, but it's customization option seems a bit limited. I couldn't figure out how to filter out useless buffs/cooldowns/dots to filter out in the timers/cooldown bar.

Now I mainly use power aura classic for the dots, molten core procs, and decimation buff. It takes a while to set up, but its well worth it.

I recommend dotimer as a better alternative to forte and for those who are too lazy to set up power aura.

Necrosis is a good mod and has been around forever, but its not updated that often. The last time I tried it, it kept popping up lua errors and prevented me from putting on a spell/fire stone on my weapon.

Cataclysm Class Changes: Hunter {WoW}

Apr 9th 2010 1:32PM They should let hunters carry 6 pets at a time... rename the stable master to "Bill's PC"...

Cataclysm Class Changes: Warlock analysis {WoW}

Apr 8th 2010 5:48PM Okay, I tried asking on the official boards and didn't really get a response, but whats our obsession with green fire? I took a long 3-4 year break in between classic and WotLK WoW so maybe I missed the punch line somewhere...

Hands-on: Monday Night Combat {Joystiq}

Apr 2nd 2010 6:51PM Thats the same thing I thought, the gameplay looks more like dota than TF2.
