Jan 9th 2012 11:59AM Well, I started my life in the World ... of Warcraft midway through BC. I loved sending my characters through the portal and everything was fresh, exciting, and new.
Now, I am leveling a Horde alt that just hit 60, and Outland is fun all over again. I always look at older content as a "period piece". Nostalgia can be fun, too - and it reminds you of the journey. I think it adds dimension to your character (roleplay not necessary).
If you are Alliance, and have run through Outland several times already, roll Horde and have fun. And if you are Horde, roll Alliance and come over to the winning side for a change! Heheheh. (Grab your sword and fight the Horde! Huzzah!)
Kudos to Elisabeth for reminding us to "change up" once in a while, even when the content has been around for several years.

Dec 28th 2011 1:03PM What? "Me no take candle?"
You are mistaken my smelly, whiskered friend. YES, I do take candle.
Yes, I do ... and some fake gold would also be nice. Tee-Hee.
Dec 27th 2011 2:44PM YES! Ashbringer ... finally, I can get an epic ... oh, what? Just a deck of cards?
YES! A totally EPIC deck of playing cards! Awesome! :-)
Dec 24th 2011 6:17PM Awesome ... awesome ... and, um ... AWESOME!
Grab Your Sword and Fight the Horde!
Dec 23rd 2011 1:41PM A heartwarming, family tale suitable for primetime CBS viewers ... but since many of them are over 60 and have no idea what World of Warcraft is, it had better be on Fox instead!
Thanks to Michael Gray for picking this video of the season. Great one!
Dec 15th 2011 2:44PM Great gift idea for all the men who (like me) wait until December 24 to start shopping for Christmas. Ho Ho Hodir!
Also, Alex Ziebart rules! (do I get points for that?)
Dec 6th 2011 1:24PM @Grokmar
Bingo! You got it. No one in their position apologizes unless their hand was so far in the cookie jar... well, anyway. Sorry they did it or sorry they got caught? Hmm ... do I have to say it? Hand slap for them, no foul, no time outs. Play resumes...
Also, kudos to Fox Van Allen for using the infamous South Park take on BP's "We're sorry. We're sooooo sorry..." montage. Perfect. 8-)

Good point! I believe the lore is such a big part of this game, and the cultural aspects of the different races are certainly a portion of that.
For me at least, the extra dimension to the characters that Blizzard brings out in lore is why this game is so enjoyable. Some argue that newer MMO games have better character rendering or mechanics - but without the superior lore we have in WoW, those games have as much appeal as playing "Adventure" on the Atari 2600.
Oct 13th 2011 7:30PM Mr. Gray,
Great intro article! I have been put in this position recently, as I persuaded several friends to try the game. I nearly fell into the trap of knowing "too much" about the game, and could have easily given an impression of the game being too complicated to even attempt! Luckily, I chose my words with care, and two new players are among our ranks.
Actually, they both had an interesting misconception in common. They believed since the game's level cap is 85, they thought it was both futile and expensive (by purchasing all the expansions) to begin playing WoW. Bravo to Blizzard in the introduction of the free-to-play-to-level 20.
This article hits all the points better - and with concise precision. I think if someone sent a prospective WoW player the link to this article along with the Blizzard link to the free-to-play signup, it would be a winning solution.
I started playing February 24, 2008 and haven't stopped yet.
