Aug 24th 2010 1:18PM I remember right before LK launched, GC said that the target was to have a new expansion out every 12-14 months.
Now I know that Cataclysm isn't exactly an expansion, but rather a full relaunch of the game, but its projected launch is a full two years after LK.
I'm disappointed that they're so far off target, and probably over budget (lol), but I will tell you what I am stoked about...
1: This is a game changer, and it changes more than just the World of Warcraft. You've heard the term WoW-Clone. Well, with all these new features, they've raised the bar on what can be considered a WoW-clone. Games like (Project?) Copernicus are going to have to add a lot of stuff to their social and guild systems just to stay competitive, and I'd say it even raises the bar for those two extra MMOs that Blizzard has in development.
I think with old Azeroth dead and ran through the voodoo grinder that the term WoW-clone might even be considered a compliment.
2: From what I understand 10 man and 25 man achievements will drop the exact same loot. This probably means that 10 man stuff will be... less of a joke. Lets face it, naxx 10 was a joke, ulduar 10 was a joke, ToC 10 was a joke, and as far as I raided into ICC 10... hilarious.
But they should be able to make uniform gear requirements between the two versions of the instance, but I still believe that the community at large is going to manage to muck that up for us as well.
Aug 23rd 2010 3:25PM I hope they give shamans another three or four more passes.
The new mechanics seem fun, but it still seems like elemental and enhancement are only playing with half a deck.
Aug 23rd 2010 3:15PM I'm just surprised that Blizzard hasn't added the option to require authenticators for guild bank access to the guild control panel.
As a G.M. of 3 guilds and a raider in 2 other guilds... I have to say that option would make my life so much easier.
Aug 19th 2010 2:41PM And yet lady gaga is the one with the multimillion dollar recording contract.
Jul 27th 2010 2:24PM But seriously... didn't they just announce that they will not be going f2p like... last week or something?
Jul 23rd 2010 5:34AM in 2 years the processors we have now will have 16 or 32 cores and the graphics cards will be direct x 12 compatible and it will blow everything available now out of the water.
i'm glad that sqeidos didn't skimp on the required specs, though I do wish they would give me WXGA support or push up the PS3 release OR even just announce that they're committed to monthly content updates for 2 years before they reevaluate anything while at the same time committing to having the PC and PS3s populate the same world.
Guild wars 2 is going to have requirements just as steep though, and in the current economy I think that asking people to invest more than a couple hundred dollars at a time in their systems is sort of a bad move.
considering that the 480 costs more than 480 dollars in almost... all available models. (source: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&DEPA=0&Order=BESTMATCH&Description=gforce+480+gtx&x=0&y=0)
I mean, hell, even the power supply certified to run one of those things costs more than $350 dollars.
the cheapest I7 processor is like $340 ( info also pulled from newegg)
and even the best value mobo to run all of that is another $200 bucks (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157163)
(keep in mind I said best value and not cheapest, kthx)
Then another $250 for the RAM (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231282)
(used 2*2x2 kits for 8 gigs.)
I guess wait for the PS3 version, which will run it better than that hardware and cost 23% of that hardware... and even come with a case to put it in and be preassembled.
tl;dr enjoy your 6 months of beta before they abandon PC support.
Jul 22nd 2010 7:31PM I would contend that G.I.R.L.s spend more money than women.
Jul 22nd 2010 4:11PM Uh.
It would cost me $55 dollars to transfer my shaman to play with my friends on Turalyon-H.
4 dollars for more ship slots or bridge officer slots... WHICH YOU DON'T EVEN NEED, isn't that bad.
Jul 22nd 2010 4:08PM Yo Bagnon, I'm really happy for you and I'm gonna let you finish, but Arkinventory is the best inventory addon of all time.
