May 20th 2010 7:43PM I couldn't disagree with you more I'm afraid. healing on my holy paladin requires that i keep a friendly target targeted so i can renew my judgements without needing to look for an appropriate enemy.
Secondly while responsible for healing 2 tanks I'll often target the second one allowing me to cast at them or the focussed tank without using my mouse at all, freeing up my right hand to look around and increase my raid awareness.
In addition i use mouseover macros which are no quicker or slower than clique casting from my experience.
In short there are a significant number of ways to use your interface tools, and as long as it works for the individual using them i don't think you or I am in a position to judje them as correct or incorrect.
Apr 9th 2010 2:18PM Yep that's a fair comment, i wasn't aware of the stats and if they're right which they may well be based on those stats then something new and exciting could well have been expected and deserved.
I suppose the trick is to introduce something fun and functional, and make sure it's a direct replacement for another ability, i.e. make it exclusive so it can't be abused to push damage even further, but allows more choice in play style and more situational use/benefit.
Tricky thing though rogues, like warriors they're a no magic class so i guess to be semi in keeping with the lore of the game there couldn't be things too far from the laws of physics, making something exciting and obey those laws must be a real art.
Apr 9th 2010 6:52AM Well seems to me that yes the annouced changes are underwhelming i'm sure but then again let's think for a minute about where rogues are right now, as a PVEer i know the rogues top the damage meters in most raids i've been on, they don't bring much raid utility and i think that's a fair price for the massive damage they bring. The changes i've seen for other classes are removing most class exclusive raid utility and sharing it across many other classes meaning they too aren't getting much that is new, exciting and only their class can do.
So smoke cloud is a nice trash utility, it's nothing to be sniffed at, making a corner in a room with no corners is pretty damn awesome if you ask me.
As for the nerfs to your ability to stun lock in PvP, well i'm sorry but for my sins I play an enhancement shaman, and when fighting a rogue i might as well just sit down, put my weapons away, recall my totems and wait to die because there's very little i can do to avoid it. So I for one saw that nerf coming a mile off.
What I'm trying to say is for an outsider looking in, rogues seem to have the right balance of damage and utility (high damage low utility) and any new shiny abilities could only come if that balance is broken. Looks like you got a bit of a survivability buff, even though it's minor without taking any serious reduction in damage or utility, so it's probably time to sit back and be thankful that your class won't feel like a band new class to play come Cataclysm.
PS. rogue with DoTs! get out of my shadow priest shoes you devious rogue! :D
Apr 7th 2010 5:53PM Well if i'm honest one of the reasons i went enhance (apart from loving nothing more than running up to something and hitting it) was due to the complexity and challenge it offered to play well. I'm just not too sure how comfortable i am with the idea of dumbing it down but as with everything we'll have to wait and see
