WoW.com is moving to wow.joystiq.com {WoW}

Sep 13th 2010 7:05PM Which is silly; AOL clearly has the long-standing rights to the name, and as trademarking a word (such as "wow") IS FORBIDDEN BY TRADEMARK/PATENT LAW, Blizzard really doesn't have a leg to stand on for making any kind of demand for it. AOL can basically say "LOL we had this name YEARS before you even thought of it" and any court worth their muster would agree.

I'm going with a deal to purchase the domain.

Breakfast Topic: Tank anxiety {WoW}

Aug 3rd 2010 6:41PM My philosophy on tanking and DPS being jerks: If you start acting like idiots, I'll stop tanking. I'll just stand there and let them kill me and we can see how fast we all wipe. I'm there because I want to get through the damn thing too.

My philosophy on chain-pulling in general: Can the DPS kill all the mobs fast enough so that I don't die and they don't steal aggro? No? Then shut the f*ck up and slow the f*ck down.

Cataclysm Beta: New 31-point talent trees, spec bonuses and more {WoW}

Cataclysm Class Changes: Hunter {WoW}

Apr 9th 2010 5:12PM TBH, I'm not entirely happy with "no ammo". I understand where they're going with it, but I think a better solution would be "no CONSUMABLE ammo".

Originally, Hunters used a three-piece setup: Weapon, Ammo-holder, Ammo. The weapon provided the baseline damage, the ammo-holder was (a) storage for the ammo and (b) provided a haste-like bonus to the attack, and the ammo itself provided a minor damage increase, depending on the type used. When quivers were removed and ammo was kept in normal bags, the haste from the quiver was instead added to the weapon. It makes sense that the damage will now be based solely on the stats of the weapon itself.

Personally, I think the ammo diversity doesn't need to go away. You can still have the extra-damage concept from ammo: Start the Hunters off at level 1 with the basic ammo for their race's preferred weapon, and still allow the higher-quality ammo (non-consumable, one is enough) to be bought from stores. Just increase the cost of the ammo to about the same of 200-500 units of that ammo under the old system.
