Sep 27th 2011 10:18AM Well I have to say that having never played GW but finding myself falling in love with GW2 there was definatly the attraction to picking up the original game to earn HoM pts but I was afraid that the potential of burning myself out trying to rack up pts just isn't worth it.
Feb 23rd 2011 12:15AM So what your saying is forced player interaction is what makes an MMO?
One of the greatest things about MMOs are other players, one of the worst things about MMOs is other players. The more that interaction with other players is player choice the more people will happily interact since they only have to interact with the other players they want to when they want to. I know about a dozen people in RL who play WoW who have zero interest in the game lore, in immersion, in the fantasy genre they play for epeen. I don't want to be forced to interact with these kinds of people. I don't want to see their idiotic character names any game that gives me more options to avoid social interactions with immature idiots the better.
Dec 6th 2010 8:40PM Awesome a conest I can enter
Dec 4th 2010 9:19PM Well I'd kind of prefer the box and since I live in Australia I could go in any time on Tuesday and grab one and be ready to go when the servers come back up which is 6:30pm here unforntunatly somebody along the line don't know if its the retailers or wholesale distributers or what but apparently here in AU the end consumer doesn't get to benefit from a strong Aussie dollar so I'll be paying $40.50AU for the digital download instead of $60 to walk in a store here and buy it. If I wasn't in such a rush id import a physical copy and still come in cheaper than $60 truly ludicrous.
Dec 2nd 2010 9:38AM Whats concerning me about the return to heroics that are more like the BC ones than the Wrath ones is that the Wrath cycle has created a legion of players that seem to think that everything is meant to be a cakewalk, should take very little time, there should never ever be any wipes ( I mean cause come on if we wipe it must have been someone elses fault...)
Hulder I think your daydream dungeon finder already exists its called guild runs....anyone who doesn't expect to occasionally have to carry someone who is undergeared or god forbid actually help out now and then in pugs is really missing the point of the dungeon finder tool.
Aug 10th 2010 11:57PM I complained as soon as I heard this why because when I play a game 9/10 I will pick the least human looking option available and I was really looking forward to this game until I realized that to make their "4th pillar" work they were going to restrict us to humans or very human looking aliens which annoys the hell out of me there are some really cool looking species that are prominent in the Star Wars setting and no I dont want one as a pet.
Restricting the already extremely limited options even further by making them class specific is annoying as hell i get why they have done it but it just makes me start to think that if they had to restrict us this much then maybe this 4th pillar really wasn't worth the effort. I cant remember where offhand but they have pretty much said that one of the main reasons that all playable species are near humans is to support the romance storylines possible with certain companion characters makes me want to beat myself over the head. Why not just let me play a Trandoshan or a Wookie or whatever if thats what i want and have those options disabled when playing a species that makes them innapropriate.
This is not the same as class/race combos in other mmos which largely exist to support the ingame lore this is an artificial restriction to support biowares gimmick mechanic..
Jul 27th 2010 3:58AM I really don't think it will be humans for every class and a couple of aliens specific to each class I think it will be more standard rpg fair that certain species might be exclusive to a specific faction due to existing lore and that certain classes are thematically innapropriate for certain species.
The only reason to restrict a species they go to the effort of making playable is for lore/immersion reasons. Sure True Sith should be Empire faction only and you could make an argument for them being Warrior/Inquisitor only because the concept of an Republic side True Sith is silly. The only other argument beyond lore for restricing a class would be like in wow where they claim that having the same race playable by both factions would be confusing but since humans will be available to both factions in TOR negates that as a reason.
May 21st 2010 3:07AM While I do think this mod is pushing it I also feel that the emphasis on timing and positioning in so many raid encounters has gotten a little ridiculous I'm not saying it shouldn't be there only that there seem to be way too many that can wipe a whole raid too easily.
As for the 'they should break gearscore' morons all the gearscore addon has down has made it simpler to do something that was always possible as has already been said prior to gearscore it was the the link achievements rubbish. It's people who don't want to risk not being able to whisk through a raid that are the problem, people who aren't willing to accept that a pug raid is going to have an increased chance of a few wipes so they try to circumvente the reduced level of teamwork and coordination present in a pug by overgearing the content. It's actually quite amusing really that this sort of rubbish has actually gotten worse with all the " casual friendly" content thats been pushed because people have been lead to believe they should be able to log in for 2 hours and and finish an entire raid with no complications. Its ironic casual friendly doesn't have a huge impact on the 'hardcore' its the folk in the middle that have suffered.
Apr 30th 2010 10:37PM I don't know I'm starting to get a little concered that bioware are goig to make us all play humans and keep non-humans as companion characters......
I hope I'm just being negative because having to play a human in a setting with boat loads of aliens just to help reinforce there mechanic will be a deal breaker for me.
Apr 24th 2010 11:55AM I don't really think its getting that much hype I mean what is the complaint here is it the updates? The Webcomic? The level of built in expectation with a large portion of the customer base due to previous bioware titles? The stong IP?
I think that TOR is going to capitalize on WoW I think there will be an appropriate blend of new inovations to spice things up but enough familiarity that the average WoW player will fit right in. Those new inovations + age of WoW + sci-fi vs Fantasy setting + many similar popular features as wow +stong IP = TOR will be the biggest MMO since WoW. Will it be a WoW killer I don't think so but I do think that TOR has better chance at being a true competitor to WoW than any MMO released to date or that is likely to be released any time soon.
