Jan 29th 2011 5:08PM Fanny means backside in the northeast US too. Unless it means something else in Britain? :P
Jan 29th 2011 8:35AM Fanny Thundermar! Who could be cooler than a frying-pan wielding dwarflady? :D Also I got to make up a racy ballad about her.
Aug 24th 2010 11:10AM I'm not saying he was totally blameless or should be commended on his behavior... I'm saying that wasn't what the point the BLOGGER was making.
@Nipah -- Also, apparently the GM *was* out of bounds, because the name change was undone later and the GM who reversed it came right out and said it was against policy to change a name without a player report. And it was confirmed that the player's name was NOT offensive.
If you read the followup post I linked, you'll see that both sides were in the wrong.
I also think it bears mentioning that neither the paladin nor the GM were native english speakers, so some (not all) of what sounds horribly rude to us is probably a matter of not knowing the polite way to express things.
Aug 24th 2010 12:18AM I didn't really think that "don't treat the GM poorly" was the moral of Larisa's post. It's certainly a good message, but I rather thought Larisa was saying "Look at the GM treat the player poorly."
It's worth noting that the whole decision was later reversed, and she's got a follow-up post about it here: http://www.pinkpigtailinn.com/2010/08/post-in-which-gm-huw-restores-larisas.html
Aug 16th 2010 2:19PM Wow, this is such a depressing story! We had a deaf raider for a while, and it was never a problem at all. She knew that she had to be extra well prepared for certain fights because she'd need to quickly recognize visible cues instead of hearing things called out in Vent. We also were careful to always give important instructions in raid chat before the fight, and we would send a whisper to her directly if we needed to give her in fight instructions (with macros). This shouldn't have gotten to that point at all.
The problem we mainly had with our deaf raider was the attitude of some of the younger members in the guild and their inability to be appropriate.
Aug 10th 2010 9:44AM Petopia has a partial list here:
I believe it only refers to tameable rare spawns though, but I could
be wrong on that point.
(apologies if this comment shows several times, the comment system is being weird again)

Jul 7th 2010 2:37AM That site doesn't have me.
Whitepages.com also doesn't have me.
It is possible to be careful. I'm also nearly 30 (28 precisely) and I am currently a doctoral candidate at a major university and have previously worked at a major health insurance provider.... so the fact that I have a real life out in the world doesn't guarantee that I can be stalked online.
I've had to deny myself some fun things on the internet to stay unlisted. I would be sad if the wow forums have to become one of them.
Jul 5th 2010 2:02AM Own3d, do you mind if I copy these comments and your numbers to do a little speculating of my own?
