Feb 7th 2012 2:15PM I am the comic relief. Sometimes, accidentally. . .
My first guild even had a by-law: "Never follow Rezina anywhere." I'd either get lost or die. I am the one who makes jokes in vent, who starts the snowball fights during raiding breaks, and who goes into 5 mans with a fishing rod equipped. I'm not the best raider, but I'm fun! :)
Feb 3rd 2012 1:26PM I have loved reading the stories here today! I don't feel like such a weird old lady anymore! :)
I started out with Pong. . . it was expensive, and my father was afraid it would mess up the color on the television so he bought us a little black and white set to play it on. Then I graduated to Atari 2600--loved "River Raid" and "Pitfall." Christmas of 88 my younger sisters got a NES and I got addicted to Zelda. I was in college at the time, and I remember lots of late nights playing that game on that same huge console TV that my Dad had fretted about 10 years earlier.
I kept on gaming even after getting married and having kids. I played Super Mario 3 with my baby son sitting on my lap, holding his controller, getting excited because he thought he was playing. Years later we bought a Playstation and he and I were adventuring through tombs playing "Tomb Raider." Then I bought him a Game Boy and the Pokemon Games, and would occasionally pick it up to play it so I'd understand what a Pikachu was!
When he became a teenager, in his room with his own computer, we started playing different games. I was playing The Sims and The Sims 2. He played every console game he could get his hands on, and beat them pretty quickly. So, his father came up with the idea to buy WoW because the salesman at Game Stop told him "He'll never beat this game." I stil had no interest, though. I was happy raising my Sims families and building Sims houses.
A few years later his father and I divorced, and I fell in love with the man who's now my husband. He was a gamer, too. He played WoW. One weekend, he sat me down at his comptuer and let me make a paladin to try it out. The next morning we were running out to Wal-Mart to get a Battle Chest and WotLK expansion. (It had just came out.) Now, I tank on my pally and my boy (now a grown man) heals for me on his troll priest. Hubby tops the DPS meters on his mage. We're a happy WoWing family.
Feb 2nd 2012 1:02PM You mean, I'm just finding out about this now, and it's fixed alraedy?! NOOOOOO! (Sob) I was sooo gonna respecc Ret tonight. . .my guild is running through DS and was on the loot ship.
Feb 1st 2012 5:20AM You know, just last night during our raid I was wondering how moving Vudhu to the bottom middle would work. And, now heres a good example to go by. But, like you said--not as good for DPS, and my Druid goes between Resto & Boomkin a lot. I wonder how i could set it up so I could be more flexible?
Jan 31st 2012 5:33PM I am not a middle aged female! I am 43! Thats still young! (warstomps, turns into a bird, flies away.)
Jan 12th 2012 5:33PM What, no female taurens! Who doesnt want to dance with a healthy country girl shaking all that junk in her trunk to the Electric Slide?
Jan 9th 2012 9:29AM I create a toon, take long, hard looks at them, and then named them something that in my mind "suits" them. Sometimes when I make a toon to level as a pair with one of hubby's we name them something that starts with the same letter or something that fits together. Example--our Dks were named Mythros and Melificent, and we have mage/lock pair named Nostrademos and Naughtia.
One that I actually based on a fictional charecter is my hunter, "Kheylar." Kheylar is a Klingon name--name of Worf's "mate." Yeah, I am a trekkie geek too. Guess what her Tiger's name is? "Beylana." After--yep, you guessed it, another Klingon. LOL
Jan 7th 2012 10:45AM Tyler--great article! Need more Moonkin screenshots, I can help out there. :)
I bought into the whole "This MMO is gonna be the WoW killer, come play it and see" theory once. I played RIFT for 6 months, loved parts of it, hated parts of it, eventually came back to WoW.
It will be the same with Star Wars. People will get sick of the force and come back. Blizzard will take some aspects of the game and implement it into WoW to compete. Such is the way of the Capitalistic Business Model. we'll keep giving them our money on a regular basis. Hey, I subscribed for a year JUST to get a pretty pony! C'mon now!
Jan 7th 2012 10:25AM I'm female and I play all female toons. I tried to make a male human pally, but hated it. It felt "weird" to me to play a boy. I'm not big on RP'ing, but I feel that I have to connect with my toons.
Oh the other hand, my husband's first "main" was a female Warlock. His current main is a male Belf mage. . . yeah, I know, not a far cry, huh? But, his Belf is quite sexy to me, so I'm good with it.
