Jun 17th 2008 8:19AM I can see the theory of it and it makes sense given that it's pretty easy to hit 70 without having done much of Shadowmoon Valley or Netherstorm. But... when there's a brand spanking new expansion sitting there waiting to be experienced, I don't think I would have the staying power not to jump straight into it at 70, even with my alts.
Jun 17th 2008 4:04AM I have 2 accounts, so yeah I can enchant my alts but I have to pay for it and that sucks! What other professions are this crippled? I hope this enchanting "kit" or whatever turns out to be true, I've heard rumours about it but I've also read some very non-commital comments from Blizzard so who knows?
Jun 16th 2008 8:22AM On the subject of twinking, why can't I enchant my own alts? My lvl70 whizz-bang super enchantress can give mega enchants to friends, guildies, complete strangers, almost anyone.. except for my own alts, huh? WTF?
May 1st 2008 10:30AM Tabula Rasa has pretty awesome combat, it's just a shame there isn't any more to the game than that.
Mar 10th 2008 8:32AM Jaina Proudmore FTW!
Dec 28th 2007 8:18AM I am a casual player on a PVP server. I think the world PVP element gives everything an edge, you have to keep your eyes open all the time, particularly in known PVP/ganking areas. AH prices seem to be more crazy and irratic, it's easier to sell that uber epic you picked up for like 300G on my PVP server. Players are more aggressive and in your face, but I like this too.
When I play with my wife on a PVE server (she doesn't really like PVP... yet) it feels carebear. That requirement to be constantly alert in case someone is hiding in the trees doesn't exist, the idea of just walking through Hillsbrad or STV without a care in the world just makes me laugh!
So, yeah, I am a casual player on a PVP server and I think it rocks.
Dec 7th 2007 9:02AM I think it is unlikely that they will release it in the summer given that it is typically a slow period of year for game sales. I think it is more likely to be spring 08 or autumn 08. I have been optimistic and selected March-May 08!
Oct 17th 2007 2:17PM I do think that death penalties should be harsher for sure, but isn't an MMO with permadeath just a normal video game?
I'm sure I read a psychological article (that I agree with) that said the unique appeal that made MMOs what they are is the fact that you have a permanent entity. Everytime you log on you advance a bit more, you form a relationship with your characters, it keeps you hooked.
If that character got dumped every couple of days and you had to start again from scratch... erm... then aren't we just talking about Ghosts 'n' Golbins with 9mil players? And wouldn't you bore of it just as quickly?
Sep 28th 2007 8:31AM For me (as a casual), patch 2.2 was ALL about the voice chat and since my server isn't going live with voice chat for another week and a half (apparently) I don't really consider it patch 2.2, more like 2.1 and a few tweaks/bugfixes.
Sep 24th 2007 1:15PM I love the idea of role playing but for me it just doesn't work. Since role playing isn't mandatory on RP servers I find that most people don't RP (so, why did they roll a character on an RP server then? who knows?).
I can start a conversation with someone in character and they respond in character and then someone else chips in about their uber alt, oh, and when is patch 2.2 coming in, etc. If I try to keep in character they just don't get it, "yeah, you know patch 2.2?? what's wrong with you?"
