Apr 19th 2010 9:01AM I whole heartedly agree with Erzfiend and jealouspirate. Instead, let us see some more WoW.com April Fool's jokes! >:D
Apr 17th 2010 11:24PM I really hope they don't remove Sentry Totem and any other fun spells/abilities in the game like Frost/Fire Ward. There's no harm in keeping them, it's not as if an immobile chunk of earth-empowered wood which can be attuned to the Shaman's eyesight, granting them sight of the area surrounding the totem could be dangerous.
It's like a camera set on timer (weak analogy, I know), they're not dangerous. Or are they? *shifty eyes*
Apr 17th 2010 10:57PM Yeah, that's how I read it too.
'A: Our current plan, is that in Cataclysm, you can learn a new rank of flying that lets all flying mounts move at 310% (even current 280% mounts).'
'...that lets all flying mounts move at 310% (even current 280% mounts).'
'...(even current 280% mounts).'
They just want to make it so that the 280% speed mounts are also used and not just the 310%.
'We don't like it that when you get a 310% mount that you stop using your old ones. '
Apr 17th 2010 9:56AM What worries me is that a lot of people are so addicted (or call it what you will) to WoW that they don't mind shoveling large amounts of cash into Blizzard's hands for the sake of a few vanity items.
I'm also worried about the pricing of the items they're adding into the pet store. They seem to be placing things up for a large amount of cash (compared to most other games with cash stores) and people are willingly paying that amount and are then praising Blizzard for letting them do so.
I know some people really like the idea of a cash store to pay for vanity pets (and I hope they only keep it at pets) but I think it'd be a lot nicer if they added more content into the game for our $15 a month subscriptions.
Anyway, I personally would never buy anything from any online MMO cash store and I know there are a lot that would, I just personally think it's a bad use of money. Especially when things cost as much as Blizzard is charging for them.
As a side note: I think the Celestial Steed is going a bit too far. Mounts are actually a big part of WoW's gameplay, no, it doesn't affect combat but not everyone in WoW plays solely for the combat. There are a lot of mount/pet collectors out there I'm sure they'd be a lot more impressed if the steed were some gold-sink/random-crazy achievement reward in-game.
Apr 17th 2010 1:46AM @ Cyanea, I understand that we all have different value systems and I've actually been in the exact same predicament as you in regards to the cards (I also have stacks of WoW, Yu-Gi-Oh although half of my Yu-Gi-Oh cards were fakes :( and Magic cards [which I inherited from my older brothers and sisters] that I spent too much money on and I still don't regret it).
I definitely understand that we all have our different perceptions on what is valuable. Gosh, most people I know are certain that WoW is just a giant money sink. My main gripe with the Celestial Steed and what I tried to get a across in my post was that I don't think the price was reasonable at all, it doesn't need to be that high. I know obviously people value the mount high enough that they would pay that amount to buy it and there always will be people that will.
This is just my opinion, but I believe that the Steed should not have been priced as high as it has been. It really seems as if Blizzard is just trying to exploit players' addictions.
Oh and I don't play WoW at the moment, I'm waiting for Cataclysm, which by the sounds of it will be totally awesome! :D
Apr 16th 2010 9:11PM I find it quite funny how people are so excited by the idea of riding on a "pony", "full of stars". A lot of the comments so far have said "but OMG, it's full of stars, I'm going to buy it!" or "I love my star pony it's so shiny!" In some kind of effort to justify paying $25 for something that could easily be available in-game. I'm quite annoyed by how this star pony was made available for purchase with actual cash, I was okay with the "Pet Store" selling pets, but a mount? That's going too far imo.
But the most annoying thing about this mount is the actual pricing of it. A shiny-textured Invincible is thrown up for sale for $25 dollars. I cannot believe that people are gladly paying $25 dollars and then praising Blizzard for allowing them to do so. Yes, it is your money, that you've earned, you can do whatever the hell you want with it but if you've bought this mount and think that it was good value, then you're wrong.
I am not complaining about the price because I can't afford it, it's not that, I can (but I never would). I'm complaining because it's simply not value for cash. If it were $2 or at the max $5 then that'd be more reasonable then $25, but at $25 Blizzard is just exploiting hundreds of thousands of peoples' addiction. I understand if you really want to buy the Celestial Steed, I agree it does look quite nice. But at $25 for a re-textured model that has the same function of other mounts in the game for your DIGITAL characters, it is just not worth it. If you can't see that the mount is not worth $25 then I really think you should give WoW a break or at least give this some deep thought.
I've lost a lot of respect for Blizzard recently and they know where they're heading. Welcome to the micro-transaction era and I wish you all the best in life, both digital and RL.
