Breakfast Topic: The most memorable raid interruption {WoW}

Mar 18th 2011 1:37PM The best that ever happened to my guild was way back in early BC, and we still reference it to this day. While in Kara a new mage in the guild randomly went AFK. We waited, and waited, and waited. For the new people, at this point in WoW if you removed someone, they stayed in your raid, and they occupied a spot, so we couldn't replace him. We waited for a full hour while he sat there AFK, and then called the raid. Obviously we gkicked him. The next day he whispered me and wanted to explain his sudden AFK. He stated the cops showed up and he was arrested for pot possession. When I let him know he was online far longer than he should have been (ie he never AFK'd offline), he said the best excuse I have ever heard. "The cops moved my mouse around looking for more pot."

Gold Capped: Juggling the Volatiles market in Cataclysm {WoW}

Nov 18th 2010 10:33AM I farmed up a huge amount of elementium ore on beta while leveling up JC, which primarily uses elementium bars.

Insider Trader: No more low-level crafting alts {WoW}

Nov 9th 2010 11:44AM The minimum level on the beta right now is 75. I haven't checked the vendors on most of the professions, but I can confirm that the trainers all only go up to approx 510 for most professions. You can check for specifics on which patterns are beyond that. My enchanter is my level 75 priest, and I was able to DE level 85 greens with 498 enchanting. I can confirm that the tailor spellthreads require you to go to TH.

Nov 9th 2010 11:38AM My paladin was level 83 (the cap at the time) when Uldum and TH were released, and it took me a day and a half to to hit 85 (probably 8-9 hours played). Most of that was because I had to grind out fully half of level 85 on mobs, since I had done all the quests in Deepholm after I dinged 83, losing out on a lot of quest xp. My lock and druid both took a little over 17 hours each to hit 85 from level 80, without rested, but with BoAs. Leveling is relatively quick, moreso if you have friends you can hit dungeons with on the way.

Officers' Quarters: Patch 4.0.1 -- An officer's perspective {WoW}

Sep 20th 2010 3:41PM There's at least one issue with the new talents that might effect current raiding guilds, and that relates to protadins. Our Div Prot has dropped to 20%, most likely to compensate for Guardian giving us 60% damage reduction, but we don't get that until 85. Argent is also a CD, so you have to be intelligent about the usage on that as well, plus it restores less health than it currently does on live. While not huge for every fight, if you're in a guild still working on content in ICC and your MT is a pally, you'll probably have to figure out a new way to work your damage reduction abilities with the raid setup.

Also, three cheers for the ability to set ranks based on authenticators. Making people pull out the pets has never set me at ease after I had an officer take his off without telling me because he changed his phone, and then he ended up getting hacked.

Officers' Quarters: Patch 4.0.1 -- An officer's perspective {WoW}

Sep 20th 2010 3:33PM As a GM I've been enforcing my officers have an authenticator anyways for a while now. About 5 months back we had a senior officer end up getting hacked from a flash vulnerability, and while Blizz was prompt about restoring the items taken from the gbank, it was still annoying. I've personally had an authenticator since the first batch were available for sale, I've spent far too much time in WoW to not pay the paltry amount they ask for peace of mind.

The Queue: The corner of Elizabeth and Harper {WoW}

Sep 1st 2010 11:40AM My heirloom items continued to scale after 80, but they're also going to be replaced almost immediately by quest greens. The jump in ilvl is immense, to the point most people in ilvl 277 (ICC25H) are upgrading to quest greens by Deepholm. Not to mention the final quest in Deepholm gives you an insanely good weapon. Wowhead is down, but the 1h axe I picked up there has in the neighborhood of 310 DPS.
