Shifting Perspectives: Recreating balance druids in Cataclysm {WoW}

Jul 24th 2010 4:17PM From what I gather, Eclipse will last 45 seconds, or until your lunar/solar bar reaches the middle, whichever comes first.

If you should need to move durign an encounter, you could (during a Lunar eclipse for example) cast Wrath from time to time to prolong your eclipse, or, should you need to move and not be able to stop and cast wrath, the buff will last 45 seconds, enough to let you run to your intended destination and resume Starfire spam.

What this also allows is artificially stretching your eclipse charges by casting wrath/starfire.

Let's say starfire gives 12 solar points (cant recall the exact number). you will be able to cast 9 eclipse buffed Starfires. Throw in a Wrath after your second Starfire, and you will be able to get in an extra Eclipse'd Starfire. 6 Wraths cast during a Starfire Eclipse will add 5 additional Eclipse'd Starfires (if spaced out), which is a truckload of damage.

It also allows you to use the full 45 seconds of Eclipse, regardless of which type of eclipse it is.

And then there's Starsurge, which will probably be used the same way (with the current iteration of Eclipse that is), to prolong the current Eclipse effect (should trinkets/enchants be procced).

I foresee a lot of fun with Eclipse in cata if it stays this way.

Cataclysm Beta: Mage talents and specializations {WoW}

Jul 15th 2010 5:18PM You can't reach IV as arcane ever. period.

Arcane Power is the 31 point talent in arcane (as of now, subject to change), which means you will have to take it by default to even be able to branch out into frost and fire.

Cataclysm Beta: Next round of invites going out soon {WoW}

Jul 13th 2010 8:32AM @kooda

the gmaill spam folder is a bit more hidden then others, at least by default.

underneath 'concepts' (I'm dutch, and I don't know if that's the exact term used in the english version) the should be private, travels, and then a collapsed item. In my case, it has the number 6 after it, 'nog 6' don't know the english term.

When expanding this 'nog 6' there's the spam folder.

In my case.... 112 (aaargh :( ) emails I got invited into the Beta. None of them true :

Mike Morhaime: Real names will not be required on official Blizzard forums {WoW}

Jul 10th 2010 8:50AM With the size of ActiBlizz and all the partners and contracts involved, I am surprised to see a reaction so soon.

I was sure that after the first few comments with well-constructed arguments against the RealID that they'd not go through with it (a friend of mine trying to unsubscribe meeting a 22.500 queue (and that's only the Netherlands, where the common consensus (at least up north) was that is what not too big an issue) helped my assurance).

Even with my self-assurance that they would not go through with this, I didn't expect to see a response until early next week at the very earliest. Blizzard is a big company, Activision is bigger, and then there's Facebook to consider (don't tell me they didn't think of Facebook when doing this D: ), a lot of meetings and close looks at contracts/legal laws (I can think of a few that would contradict what they were planning to do, not sure if they're still in effect though), and I really didn't expect an answer until next Monday at the earliest, and Friday or even the Monday after that as more probable dates for a statement.

Sunday Morning Funnies: Where the engines are {WoW}

May 23rd 2010 1:54PM My favourite one-liner-which-isn't-really-a-one-liner but which always makes me laugh is:
'The look on your face as a toddler rips out your heart and shows it to you? Priceless. For everything else, there's Fwoosh.' And the by now legendary 'For Pony!'.

Both courtesy of Richard, from LFG.

Arcane Brilliance: Level 80 mage gearing roadmap, part 1 {WoW}

May 15th 2010 12:34PM The titansteel Spellblade link to the Faces of Doom.

Beyond that, the pvp gear (anywhere from ilvl200-264) that can be bought for Honor are pretty good slot fillers till you get something better that's designed for PvE.

Two Bosses Enter: Faction champs elude LK, Paletress takes on Tyrannus {WoW}

May 12th 2010 1:07PM Paletress al the way.

She's way too clever to not notice the fact that the brand is either a damage mirror or a healer mirror, but not both at once (even I caught that fact at the second brand on the first day of his release, and that's saying something).

When it's the damage mirror, she'll just heal herself. If it's the healing mirror, she'll summon her memory, be bubbled and spam Smite and her OP Holy Fire.

All the while, the memory doesnt just stand around, it'll do actually respectable dmg. While the memory is wailing on Tyrannus, she will keep on spamming her OP holy fire and smite, healing when she gets low (which doesnt happen, she's immune while her memory is out after all).

I don't see any way in which Tyrannus can win. The memory Paletress summons is NOT a pushover, after all.

Reader UI of the Week: Kiela's UI {WoW}

Apr 28th 2010 7:43AM I love the look of this UI, and can't wait to sit down and design a thing like it.

However, my knowledge of all the various addons out there is limited, can you give me (us) a list of the addons used in this RUIotW?

The Daily Blues {WoW}

Apr 21st 2010 11:17AM I think what Heilig is saying that even though you're playing a healing class, and are healing in a raid, 'being a healer' is not only the class and spec, but also the mentality behind your gameplay. Are you healing because you enjoy 'whack-a-mole'? Or are you healing because you like the fact that you're doing your bit to keep the boss off everyone's but the tanks' ass?

In my mind (and I think in Heilig's too) you aren't a 'true' healer until you're healing with the second mentality.
