The Road to Mordor: Will the instance finder take off? {Massively}

Mar 31st 2012 6:56PM I think you hit a good first point there. I recently returned in LOTRO, after years away, and didn't until reading this have any blessed idea that there -was- a content finder. It needs to be much, much more prominent.

The Road to Mordor: Ride to ruin and the world's ending! {Massively}

Mar 28th 2012 6:51PM I haven't so much as looked at LOTRO since WAR pulled me away from it back in ... err... whatever long off year that was. Right before MoM. But I'll be damned if the prospect of finally having mounted combat hasn't made me roll a captain and start practicing my "For Rohan!" warcry.

EVE Online's The Mittani issues formal apology for crossing the line [UPDATED] {Massively}

Mar 27th 2012 11:10AM Drinking doesn't turn you into a completely different person. You have to be an asshole to run Goons, and this guys is. Sober or drunk, no matter the back peddling when you realize that to the rest of the world outside your small game community you're not a badass, you're just a ass.

CCP investigates player panel amidst controversy [Updated] {Massively}

Mar 26th 2012 3:18PM And this, more than anything, is why I gave up on Eve after playing it for six months. No game in the world has a more vile community.

Mar 18th 2012 7:02PM Great read, as always.

Why I Play: Star Trek Online {Massively}

Mar 15th 2012 11:51AM Everyone in the world feels this way about their first MMO. Hold on to it, because no game will ever reach the heights of obsession and love as your first.

But at the same time, don't be afraid to embrace the fact that every game can and does have an awesome community that you'd love, and you should play a game that is -fun- foremost.

The Daily Grind: Do exclusive in-game event items annoy you? {Massively}

Mar 15th 2012 9:52AM Hell no! They're on of my favorite things in MMOs. I was so glad when EQ2 went F2P because it meant that I didn't have to subscribe for a month here and there for my favorite events.

I love collecting things in game, especially items that are rare. And if that rare is "you had to play at this time" rather than "you had to bash your head against this boss a zillion times" I"m happy.

I do prefer games that put items within their setting. I don't have an interest in bunny ears in SWTOR. But events like WAR's holidays, or the lore that's tied up in the FFXIV events make me happy.

However, there can be over kill. Rift goes so heavy on the events and event items that even a rare collector like myself got burnt out before too long.

Wings Over Atreia: When egos attack! {Massively}

Mar 12th 2012 1:57PM This is pretty much why I can never PvP in a game doesn't have faction/limit cross faction communication. Play the damned game, I fight idiots verbally all day long at work, I don't have time/will/interest in the smack talk side game that so many people seem to enjoy. Leave it in your pants.

The Daily Grind: What game would you play if it had an alternate gameplay server? {Massively}

Mar 9th 2012 9:52AM Any of the FFA Sandbox games. I'm with you, I'd love to play Darkfall or Mortal. I just can't get down with the heavy open PvP focus. If either of those games had a PvE server they'd have much bigger appeal, as FFA PvP lovers are as much a niche as roleplayers. No game would ever launch with only an RP server (much to my woe.) but plenty do with only open PvP.

On that note, if any game ever did a full RP ruleset server I'd drop whatever I'm playing a heartbeat. Back in the day I paid $40 a month for the premium RP enforced/GM interaction server in a MUD called DragonRealms. I'd pay that for a modern MMO in a heartbeat.

Final Fantasy XIV's Naoki Yoshida talks patch 1.21 and the future {Massively}

Mar 8th 2012 11:05AM This game has not been "basically in beta" for quite a long time. It has more content and things to do than most games, and absolutely nothing is broken/unworking about it.

Also, I love Yoshi-P's whole gaming philosophy. He's exactly the director this game needed. I'm only sad he didn't direct the game initially.
