Live Stream: Guided tour of Orgrimmar {WoW}

Dec 6th 2010 2:07PM What exactly are the problems you're having? Have you tried the official tech support forums?

Countdown to Cataclysm: The Deadmines dungeon guide {WoW}

Dec 3rd 2010 4:55PM Regardless, though, the fact that Prestor was encouraging the (already corrupt) house of nobles doesn't absolve them from all blame. For one, they haven't paid a cent, and now look at Westfall with the mass-poverty, and they act surprised when the Defias return again.

Cataclysm Beta: Racial changes in build 12984 {WoW}

Sep 18th 2010 6:29AM You mean.. raising dead as undead.. like all the alliance Death Knights? I was under the imperssion that there's a difference between raising a corpse as a mindless puppet and actually enslaving souls as your undead minions. One is slimy and unpleasant and the other is evil.

Cataclysm Beta: New mounts and companion pets in build 12984 {WoW}

Sep 18th 2010 6:23AM Isn't that called the orc mount?

One Shots: Not really into the bar scene {Massively}

May 14th 2010 3:44PM Part of it is the computer - the 'how far can you see' setting is waaaay down low - WoW will look similar if you turn a similar setting down on it. Not that CoH isn't extremely old, hah.

WoW China hit with more censorship upon relaunch {WoW}

Jul 31st 2009 5:36AM "Ah, you silly spoon-fed liberal college students are cute. You can shout Tiannamen, Save the Whales, or Roswell all you want, but it has no bearing on my point."

You aren't?

Well, you should - because it's the politicians (obviously) who decide what is censored in China. 'Catering to society' is one thing, censorship is another entirely. Blizzard attempted to release WoW as is. Chinese people did not mind. Government intervenes, demands censorship. Blizzard obliges. It's not some atrocity in this case, but it is one of the many examples of china's ridiculous censorship.

WoW China hit with more censorship upon relaunch {WoW}

Jul 31st 2009 2:29AM Utterly stupid comparison - Warcraft as a world wasn't created to touch upon sex - it was created as, essentially, a world for violence to occur in. As such, they totally ignore all the things you mentioned, as what's the point? Child porn is criminal, so we're not touching upon 'cultural morals' at this point, the sexual orientation of very few characters is ever mentioned, and usually offhandedly (husband/wife) furries wouldn't really exist in such a world, and porn magazines wouldn't either. Blizzard never intended for these things to be in the game, as such, they're not in it. It was not due to government censorship. However, blizzard did create this to be a violent world, obviously.

China has no problem with violence, pointless murder, and the generally utterly loathsome borderline evil quests and attitudes that many horde/alliance NPCs give and have. The massive majority of the population did not mind seeing skeletons, considering they see corpses and blood and are murdering things all over the place. This entirely happened due to china's utterly insane method by which they censor things - a few really super traditional politicians heard a few complaints, and in their zeal created a massive shitstorm over something that was ultimately minor and in no way encouraged crime or even dissent.

This is not saying that our country doesn't have any problems with censorship, but it doesn't enforce it to the ridiculous degree China does.

Wrath's Violet Hold takes us down memory lane {WoW}

Sep 22nd 2008 2:53PM They usually are well-learned and scholarly - however, they've always been the ones who have attempted to stop the misuse of magic. Also, you have to know, that Malygos is batshit insane at this point. And as far as I can tel, all dragons of a flight must obey their aspect. Releasing prisoners is, in fact, a 'clever' thing to do - compared to a straightforward assault. They ARE the "Intellectual" dragonflight - they're going to be sneaky and cunning.

Phat Loot Phriday: The Booterang {WoW}

Sep 5th 2008 8:23PM Tap said...

"Since you can use it 20 times in a row, you can throw out 20 Booterangs at various peons, and as long as you keep moving, you can trail all 20 Booterangs behind you, spinning around you as they try to find their way back."

As my guilding (Jaana, ISCA Alliance, Whisperwind) always says: "Screenshot or it didn't happen."

I've never actually had the patience to lure 20 boots after me, (the peons are often scarce, especially with other people doing the quest at the same time) - this is actually an extremely common event - considering you have a mandatory epic mount during this quest, your boot will be unable to catch up with you unless you specifically stop, stand still, and sit there and WATCH the boot come torwards you - however, once you've actually stopped, you realize that the boot is actually still very fast - it's just not epic mount fast, and as such it's kind of hard to get a screenshot. It's not particularily impressive though, just mildly amusing.

Cutting a more perfect gem {WoW}

Sep 5th 2008 4:36AM Simple way to fix the devaluing of non perfect gems, and potentially even allowing for blue perfects if they desired - lower the chance dramatically below 40%, and have a perfect delicate bloodstone, using the example in the article, give 16 instead of 14 - therefore, the 'critical success' turns your green gem into a blue one - it doesn't devalue the blue ones, or the green ones, it just provides a very nice potential bonus every now and then.
