Arcane Brilliance: Which mage spec should you be raiding with? {WoW}

Feb 20th 2011 12:01PM Going from 346 to 359 or 372 isn't going drastically change the pecking order within a peer group of similarly geared people.

Some specs are just bad no matter what you're wearing.

Arcane Brilliance: Which mage spec should you be raiding with? {WoW}

Feb 20th 2011 11:48AM It should be obvious which spec is the BEST to raid with

http://raidbots.com/dpshistory/

If you're one of "those people" with whom DPS is an afterthought, then this discussion is irrelevant. Whack mobs with your fishing pole in RP gear for all I care.

Good luck raiding though, this ain't WotLK.

Breakfast Topic: How do you cope with muggles who don't "get" WoW? {WoW}

Jan 27th 2011 11:01AM Looking at the thousands of hours I've spent playing wow, it's pretty clear we're talking about an addiction.

I may be a functional wowaholic but it's not something I'm proud of or something that I would wear on my sleeve.

You can make excuses until you're blue in the face about how wow is better that running around committing violent crimes but the list of things you'd be better off doing instead is pretty damn long.

All in all the derision you get for playing this game is justified.

The Lawbringer: Schwarzenegger v. EMA {WoW}

Nov 12th 2010 11:52AM I'm all for this.

It's time for video games to evolve beyond first person shooters and fantasy make-believe. Think of the spectrum that is available on celluloid, everything from barney to real-life snuff films. Currently video games play just one or two notes well.

It won't be possible to have games expressly catered to an adult audience with adult sensibilities until there is a framework in place that will make it possible to have hardcore simulations of real-life events coexist with with pre-teen pablum.

Self regulation doesn't work, ask wall street.

Breakfast Topic: Why won't they play? {WoW}

Sep 13th 2010 11:43AM Unless you're into drugs, getting drunk and/or committing felonies. If you sit down and think about the list of things you'd be better off doing instead of playing wow is pretty damn long.

Like:
1- Any kind of sport.
2- Any activity with an educational value.
3- Any paying activity.
4- Any type of face to face socialisation.
5- Sleep
6- Anything that requires standing up.

Breakfast Topic: Real ID or Real bad IDea? {WoW}

Jul 7th 2010 1:42PM If I was a prospective employer, the first thing I would do is use this information to filter out any applicants that I feel spend too much time playing games.

Thanks blizzard, HR departments everywhere are cheering you !

The Classifieds: More raiders than ever pushing through end-game content {WoW}

May 26th 2010 2:56PM Real world references of any kind should be unwelcome in a game you play to get away from all this crap.

AddOn Spotlight: TellMeWhen {WoW}

May 6th 2010 2:51PM As of late, I'm trying to minimize the number of visual cues provided by addons and moving to a mix of visual and audio cues.

Personally my reaction time improves if I keep the number of visuals I need to plan the next gcd down to a minimum. Audio cues don't impact my raid awareness as much and develop into pavlovian reflexes faster.

But good audio support is where these addon fail.

Power Auras would be perfect if I could trigger an audio cue with the same flexibility that exists for visual ones. There is sound support added to POWA as of late, but for the life of me I have no ideas of how it is intended to be used.... Maybe someone read the code and figured out how it was supposed to work, i haven't....

Forte does a better job, but the sound selection is limited to Archaic .wav files and doesn't use any of the in-game sound resources (why???) and frankly I dislike using it only for audio support.

I would really appreciate it if someone could recommend an addon that does for my ears whay POWA does for my eyes.

Maybe POWA already does this and someone out there actually knows how it's supposed to work :)
