May 10th 2010 6:10PM I suggest asking to lead one particular raid group. If the guild has actually improved, and the new guild leader likes his role, don't take it away from him; it'll just cause resentment and possibly bring everything crashing down. (If he wants to step down, though, that's another story).
Clearly, though, you like running things, or you wouldn't have done it for so long. Since you still have a lot of respect in the group, offer to start up (or lead an existing) major raid group, and work with that. You'll have a group you're in charge of, you'll be contributing to the betterment of the guild, and you won't be stepping on any toes.
