Sep 20th 2011 8:44AM The big issue here is to transmog properly you will need to start a new character. So unless you already have a high level character who is a master at farming gold, and sends all his gold to your new character to store the items the low level character receives which are SB to him, then you won't actually be able to store them because you will run out of space.
Which means transmog will become a pain, because so many of the SB items are one-shot items you can only get from a quest or a dungeon which binds as soon as you pick it up.
It's a Catch-22.
The easy way to deal with this would be to simply scale the transmog cost to the iLvL. As a character gets higher iLvLs, so the cost for storing those higher items would of course increase. It also makes sense lore-wise, as higher level items would take more energy to store than simply a low level sword.
Sep 20th 2011 8:15AM Only issue I see is with white items. This is a perfect opportunity for Blizz to make those items relevant. Otherwise just sell us collectibles.
Heck, selling white equipment but altering the color scheme in different areas of the world would be awesome. It wouldn't have to be a huge art project, just a couple tweaks here and there, some copying and pasting, and voila, you now have whole new sets of items for players (like me) who hate looking like gods and would rather just be a down-on-your-luck level 85 swordsman who prefers anonymity but still needs the stats to showcase his heroic-ness.
Sep 20th 2011 8:11AM Probably a coding issue. Because of the way WoW is built everything has to exist at the same time on the server, and if you had ten million transmog queries being sent to random items in the game which were not actually loaded on your character, it would cause massive slowdown.
This way, they probably just put a simple image link to the image in your bank, thus keeping it within your account instead of having to delve into instance of quest modules every time you have to load an animation for that particular item.
My guess anyways. I can't code worth anything, but it makes sense to me.
Sep 20th 2011 8:06AM Only from a continuity aspect. The ethereals being able to do this for weapons, there would need to be a limit story-wise, otherwise -story-wise- things would get ridiculous. If you had a strong enough ethereal, you could essentially transmogrify an entire city into a tree or a tomato.

Seriously, most of the vendors in the game sell white. It would actually give us a reason to travel around the world to collect white items from people. It would even give AH people a chance to go to that far-off locale to collect some white armor that no one ever wears, but can only be found in a little town in some small corner of the world. Like pets.
But I can see the problem. White items probably have some coding in them which restricts all the fancy stat raising that non-white items use.
So we just need to yell loud enough so that Blizz hires/assigns a coder to figure it out.
Sep 20th 2011 7:28AM BoA items are too useful, and because they can be swapped back and forth between characters, so you could essentially be mailing Tier 11 equipment to a level 1 (or what looks like Tier 11). Which would totally not make any sense, which I think their reasoning. Lore-wise, it breaks the story.
