The original resource system for non-healing Monks didn't have Dark and Light Chi. It had Chi, Dark Force, and Light Force.
What's going to be really interesting to me is how they manage resource costs for the Mana/Chi swapping. Will the class act as a true hybrid, with healing spells costing Chi in the tank and dps stances (vice versa, et cetera)? Or will there be a stance dance (remember how fun that was)?
I hope rather fervently that it's the former; anyone in the beta that can fill me in?
Mar 22nd 2012 9:51AM Consecration is Prot-only in Mists. If HPallies want a targettable AoE, they can talent for it. It's sorta like 4.0 Holy Radiance mixed with Atonement.
Anyhoo, the Conc glyph is meant to give Pallies the same versatility as DKs have with D&D. It's a big threat generating god-circle you can place at a range, which is outstanding for streaming adds in a raid.

Mar 7th 2012 11:05PM Think of it like this. Expertise doesn't increase melee hit, so you will need 7.5% hit regardless (in GC's example math). The situation you describe would be the case if you had more than 7.5% hit, but if that were the case you would just reforge it like you do now, first into expertise up to the cap and then to other stats.
That being said, if you already had 0% miss chance and 0% dodge, there would still be a little bit of benefit to the expertise. If you were on a big face-stabby boss (like Ultraxion), the expertise would mitigate his parry chance. We'll have to wait for the Beta to see how the numbers shake out, but I'd reckon Rogues will still try to manage both caps in Mists.
Mar 7th 2012 10:41PM "Guardian druids" will still be using feral armor in Mists, to my knowledge. The exception is trinkets, of course.
Mar 5th 2012 11:24AM I healadin'd in late Wrath. The transition to Cata was a little jarring at first, but I'm firmly in the "T11 was awesome" camp.
It may not have been super forgiving, and Chimaeron was pretty eccentric, but I liked having to think about the way I spent my resources. One of my main issues with DS is definitely the dominating "ZOMG AOE" mentality.
Feb 26th 2012 4:02PM @bobby: The second one. If it is directly granted by an achievement, you'll get one in the mail when they go account-wide.
@dazziq: Unfortunately, this is less likely. Achievements were introduced in Wrath, so On Wings Of Nether doesn't actually unlock the drakes; the quest chain does. For obvious reasons, quest completion is not going account-wide.
The most elegant solution (imo) is to make the Nether Drakes BoA, but that will probably be filed in the "when we get around to it" bin.
Feb 26th 2012 3:54PM Relics are an easy answer: Shaman, Paladins, and Death Knights will no longer have a slot for relics. The item type will become extinct.
As for wands, it's unclear. Wands are still a weapon type in the MoP Talent Calculator, so I would expect them to become main hand stat sticks for clothies. It is, however, equally possible that they will be off-hand items, or dumped altogether.
Jan 27th 2012 10:25PM I think it's pretty reductive to accuse the guy of not understanding sarcasm. He correctly identifies that this is a column of what not to do.
Also, he's identified an entry that belongs in the article proper:
Just Use the Same Spells Over and Over
"ICC Paladins were clearly the pinnacle of WoW's healing complexity. Find the spell that healz moar better and spam the hell out of it!"
