Spiritual Guidance: Let's talk about mana, baby {WoW}

Aug 16th 2010 6:46PM Enjoyed the article immensely especially about HPM section that I didn't really know about since I was a shadow priest all of BC.

Just wanted to add something about mana regen also that wasn't mentioned. When I switched to holy in wrath I did a lot of research on mana seeing that my holy gear at the time was so crappy and I was constantly out of mana. What I found was intellect gems (although very much debated) were also better than spirit gems for mana regent since they boost your mana pool (for use with the shadowfiend and replenishment) and also increase your crit strike rating to keep up holy concentration. This had surprised me since spirit was typically the way to go for regen and intellect hadn't really crossed my mind until I had done some research.

Now a days though since my gear has vastly improved I gem haste and spell power only and only run out of mana on heroic modes in ICC where jamming my figures on the keys as fast as humanly possible still may not cut it. (Damn you GCD...bane of my existance)

Addon Spotlight: Helpers for priest healers {WoW}

Aug 5th 2010 7:31PM Personally for cleansing I love vuhdo seeing as it displays for me if its a magic debuff than the person's square is blue and a disease it turns green. I simply than made a mouse over macros that I found on the internet easily for pretty much all my healing abilities including dispel and cure disease. Moving your mouse over the target quickly and in my case hitting the number 6 key as fast as I can solves all problems as well as not having to move my mouse to another addon and taking away potential healing time on that target.

Reader UI of the Week: Amrytale's UI {WoW}

Jul 6th 2010 5:35PM As a healer I personally have fallen in love with vuhdo. I used healbot at the beginning of my healing career and liked it for awhile and then was turned on to grid. Grid however in its earlier stages just seemed too cluttered for me to see all the debuffs I wanted and it wasn't that sleek looking to me.
Vuhdo has a vast amount of customization to it that can be confusing and as such there are entire forums dedicated to this one addon. Whats most important about it to me as a priest is seeing exactly when weakened soul is up so I can cast a power word: shield immediately as well as prayer of mending and of course renew. I use prayer of mending as my bread and butter and knowing exactly where it is and when I can use it again efficiently is key. I was able to do this in grid but when the person had a debuff on them as well as their health dropping things just became too cluttered for my liking. I was also forced to download additional addon expansions for grid to do these basic functions. Personally though I haven't used grid in awhile so it may have been update to implement this features easier.
I do enjoy the smoothness of vuhdo though and easily being able to see everyone's class colors as well as immediately knowing who has aggro before they are even hit. This as well as being able to see what debuffs and buffs that I have placed on a person easily is essential to being a great healer. If your eyes can not flawlessly slide between each person in the raid frames without having to stop and examine each one to decide what they have on them because you can't tell at a glance then you are hindering yourself.
Vuhdo also allows you to keep watch of buffs that you have given out as well as key binding everything you need which essentially eliminated the need for the addon clique.

Raid Rx: Healing indecision {WoW}

Jun 3rd 2010 4:10PM In addition to this please don't forget to heal yourself. As a priest Desperate Prayer is an amazing talent for this and having key bound is an essential thing that has saved my life on numerous occasions as well as binding heal that is often over looked. I personally tend to get tunnel vision every now and then and just forget to heal the groups that are at the corners of my raid frames or the healer group itself which usually is group 5 for me. Throwing a prayer of healing on the entire group after three serendipity stacks can prove the difference between life and death.

Another important aspect is knowing when to switch to healing the tank when the tank healer is incapable of healing (such as the sindegrosa fight when the tank healer is frozen). Calling out when to switch or keeping an eye on when the tank healer is incapacitated is key to many fights.
