World of Warcraft's holiday sale includes $10 sparkleponies {Massively}

Dec 8th 2011 7:46PM @drunkingamebar

Blizzard had a sale last holiday season with vanilla, BC for $5 each and Wrath of the Lich King for $10.

The Queue: In which Adam recently discovered The Big Bang Theory {WoW}

Dec 6th 2011 3:09PM BBT annoyed me with the whole "having sex in WoW" episode. People that don't play have a negative enough attitude about WoW or MMOs in general, based on misinformation. It's addictive, it's juvenile. Now we can add, it's for nerd perverts to the list. If you COULD have sex in WoW it wouldn't bug me so much, but having "sex" in WoW in the practically same as having "sex" in AOL instant messenger except you already have your wizard coat and hat on.

It's the geek inaccuracies that bother me about the show. I don't get the feeling that the writers come from the culture. That's the huge difference between BBT and the Guild. The Guild's writing is an amusing if sometimes critical mirror turned on MMO players but it is so accurate you can't help but relate. I've personally encountered so many of the drama situations they depict in the Guild while running a guild in WoW.

Jun 7th 2011 10:33PM Yes, yes there were. It was a popular griefing activity to get people hated by goblin factions. MC someone on the outskirts of Gadget or Booty Bay and make them attack the gobs.

Jun 7th 2011 10:30PM I would agree that pugs for Scholo, Strath and UBRS were more common than DM. At least initially I believe this was because DM was a hell of a lot harder than 10 manning the others (or 15 manning UBRS). I never pugged DM and generally only ran it with guildies. Initially the difficulty was quite a challenge. Eventually we got it down pat and would do DM North tribute runs in about 45 mins. I should note that we weren't raiders so we had few or no epics (I had a crafted epic cape, that was it). I'm sure it was easier for geared raiders.

Patch 4.2: Normal mode tier 11 encounters nerfed {WoW}

May 24th 2011 7:51PM 10/12 normal, raid 2 nights a week, 3 hours a night. I consider our guild casual. Maybe a bit more demanding on progression fights but in general the atmosphere is relaxed. I'd like to see 12/12 before the patch hit and I'm hoping we get there. Had quite a few setbacks since cata came out with losing members. It really does seem like the difficulty was too much for some players. Got some new blood and getting our stride back so hopefully we can wind this up before 4.2.

May 10th 2011 10:27PM Old style RPG mechanic. You wouldn't be as good using a weapon you hadn't used before. Also an MMO time sink mechanism. Many old time sinks have been removed from WoW vs how it was in vanilla.

May 10th 2011 10:23PM It was a pain in the ass in 5 mans when you only had Rebirth. You generally made sure to bring along another class with a res even if you were the healer, just to prevent so much running back.

Raid wise Rebirth was nice, but Druid's were brought in to innervate the priests.
