Net Dragon announces development of Transformers MMO {Massively}

Aug 3rd 2010 12:05PM I have been asking for this for like 10 years. even more so since the movies came out.

I could have sworn that shawn had these guys on the massively speaking podcast a while back, talking about interesting programing and a small dev team.

But i could be confused, but there has already been some press about this.

Unless someone else has rights to it too, because i could have sworn they were Icelanders or something like that.

The Daily Grind: Do you feel like you missed out on the golden days of MMOs? {Massively}

Aug 3rd 2010 12:03PM No. For two reasons,

I played UO, AC, and SB, so I played the best mmos when they were relevant.

Its hard to say that were on in the golden days, I never thought I could be sitting outside my physics lab talking to a fellow gamer nerd and have 2 pretty girls as me "are you talking about world of warcraft".. Gaming has never been more mainstream than it is right now. Nerd culture is becoming closer and closer to fully accepted.

With bigger and bigger titles and more and more money being put into marketing and development we might be hitting a whole new "more golden days" soon enough.

Cataclysm brings new launcher and patch process {WoW}

Aug 3rd 2010 10:18AM Damn, Its that big? I was really hoping that they would find a way to compress or rewrite some of the mpq and map files, there's no need for a game of this size to take up so much hard drive space.

I mean my hard drive is plenty big enough , so save the "get a better HD" comments, I just think its rediculous that there are games 3 times as large out there that take much less space.

Especially to DL from their servers, which seem to go really fast for the first 8 - 15% and then bog down to the point where i wonder If I can torrent this somewhere!

Massively Speaking Episode 109 {Massively}

Anti-Aliased: Modding your way out of a paper bag pt. 2 {Massively}

Jul 23rd 2010 9:49AM The problem in general is that wow's ui overall is not good enough for the serious gamer.

I don't know how anyone can play without:

A better hot bar (especially druids cause we need 2 bars to auto page)

A better chat frame (that font is terrible)

Some sort of damage meter (always wished blizz would make a real one that would hide during combat, recount is important if you want to be good but lots of people get tunnel vision very easily

A better target frame with more useful info, default doesn't even tell you what your targeting, just friendly or not, is it a beast, a shaman, a rogue?

Some sort of buff/cool down tracker, not everyone can spam 2 buttons like a mage, if I want to do good dps, I need to keep track of 2 buffs, combo points, energy, 3 dots, 2 cool downs, where im standing, number of mobs in the pull and still try to retain some situational awareness and try to maximize global cool downs.

Some sort of raid frames that track health %, aggro, mana, debuff types, custom (boss specific) debuffs, and buffs/hots.

Some sort of inventory mod, looking through 5 bags is very annoying especially when i go to the bank and it become 11 bags, instead of 2. Not to mention needing to know if I have 3 of X left in the bank or 4.

Some sort of boss fight mod most fights are easy enough to learn, but the boss screaming, burn in vile fire, is not noticeable enough over all the other sounds, and if devs think people are watching chat for boss emotes during boss fights thats madness, I am still surprised dbm or better yet, Deus Vox Encounters hasn't been implemented into game.

And for anyone starting out, with low GS having problems getting into raids, just DL underachiever, and link fake achievements. Just make sure you know what your doing so you don't ruin people's good time!

The Daily Grind: What do you hate about a game you love? {Massively}

Jul 23rd 2010 9:20AM WOW-
The fact that even though I have an 80, i can only roll a dk at 55, why not any class
The attendance over performance system wow uses as far as gearing and loot goes.

EQ2-
The fact that rolling a new toon is asking to play in abandoned zones for the next 15 days played.

WAR-
Great game, bad management, If blizz bought this license this game would be the number 2 mmo right now.

EVE-
The UI, I consider myself a pretty savvy gentleman, but come the F*** on.
