Breakfast Topic: What's your favorite pet? {WoW}

Apr 4th 2012 11:07AM I'm fond of my Alliance Argent Tournament pets (I'm Horde) - I camped the neutral AH for weeks until I see them on sale for cheaper than usual (usually, they go for over a thousand gold each, though I managed to snatch each racial one up for roughly 500 to 600 gold each) - though I would say that my absolute favorite is the Elywnn Lamb.

The reasoning is three-fold. Firstly, it cracks me up every time to see it mindlessly wandering around, munching grass and flowers, before a wolf shows up out of nowhere and kills it. Secondly, thanks to my curly hair, my parents have nicknamed me "Sheep" and "Lamb" ever since I was a baby. Thirdly, my name, Talitha, means "Little Girl," but it also means "Little Lamb."

So, even though I have 135 pets (Pebble is next), and I don't often summon them, the Elywnn Lamb is my favorite. :)

Breakfast Topic: What are you just not that excited about in Mists? {WoW}

Mar 28th 2012 1:59PM I'm sorry if this is a stupid question, but I'm confused about one thing.

You said you're quitting due to the expansion, yes? You also mentioned that if the expansion after Mists catches your attention, you'll return... but, you'll still have to level from 85 to 90 - and where? Through Pandaria. So, in the end, you won't be able to avoid any Mists content.

Or are you planning to level through instances (again, Mists content)? I'm a little puzzled about this, honestly.

The Queue: Ask the beta testers {WoW}

Mar 22nd 2012 1:45PM Akawaka, you said "EVERYONE!!!!" doesn't want Thrall back.

Well, I'm sorry to disprove your theory, but I dearly want Thrall back as Warchief. I'm in fact pumped that he's backing back! Woohoo!

Have Group, Will Travel replaced with faster flight paths, flask "Chug-A-Lug" perk removed {WoW}

Mar 22nd 2012 1:39PM This doesn't bother me one bit. (Disclaimer: our guild is very nearly level 25, so we've had HGWT for a good long while.)

In fact, I actually keep forgetting that we have HGWT (about everybody in the guild always forget we have this as well)! I just love to travel all over, and I actually loathe to spend time in Orgrimmar, primarily because the lag there murders me. All those players, just standing around in their fancy mounts... oh, my poor computer, will you please forgive me?

Anyways, my point stands: for a good part of the players, this won't bother them at all. Remember, my fellow readers, you're not speaking for everybody.

We need to manage our expectations about Mists of Pandaria {WoW}

Feb 23rd 2012 8:34PM I've been around since the Vanilla, and with the announcement of each expansion (the Burning Crusade, Wrath of the Lich King, and Cataclysm), there were quite a few players who had high expectations for those expansions - and end up quitting the game because the "expansion sucked."

This is hardly new, though I would agree that the Mists of Pandaria had the highest hype (other than possibly Cataclysm). Highest, but not new. (As sad as it is to say.)

Breakfast Topic: Be honest -- did you make it over the Wailing Caverns jump? {WoW}

Feb 20th 2012 1:31PM Ahhh, Wailing Caverns.

My sister and I knew that instance like the back of our hands. We ran each other's lowbies through Wailing Caverns SO OFTEN that we actually moved on from dislike to love.

And still, we occasionally fell victim to that waterfall jump if we didn't hit the space bar fast enough (it had become a game between us to see how far we could run before we need to jump).

Oh, man, the memories. =)

Profanity filters, homophobic slurs, and Blizzard's shaky relationship with the LGBT community {WoW}

Jan 25th 2012 9:35PM /facepalm

I forgot to add a few more facts: the writing of the New Testament was completed by 90 A.D., when the book of Revelation (the last one) was written. It was fully canonized between 300 and 400 A.D. (the delay was due to several scholars objecting to the book of Revelation, since it's such a confusing and strange book). The Old Testament/Torah was canonized long before Jesus was born (it was his Scripture. Fun fact!).

Gotta love history. :3

Profanity filters, homophobic slurs, and Blizzard's shaky relationship with the LGBT community {WoW}

Jan 25th 2012 9:31PM I have a small concern about your post. You seem to be implying that the Latin Vulgate was the original complete Bible (and that since it didn't refer to homosexuality as a sin, therefore it's not a sin).

There's one small problem.

The Latin Vulgate was actually the first LATIN translation of the Bible from the three original languages: Hebrew (the Old Testament - also known as Torah), Aramaic and Greek (the New Testament). The Old Testament was fully completed at least 400 years before Jesus' birth in ~4 B.C. The New Testament was first written (the Pauline letters), around 40 to 50 A.D., and Mark - the first of the four Gospels - was written in 50 A.D. (Jesus died ~30 A.D.).

The reason King James Version is such a big deal was because the other Biblical translations (into the other languages, such as English, German, and so on) were translated from Latin Vulgate (which was a translation itself), whereas King James Version was translated straight from the original Bible (as written in Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek). Yet another fact to know is that King James Version is what we call a "transliteration" - literal translation, word-for-word, as opposite to "translation" - which is a translation of ideas, and of sentences (if word-for-word wouldn't make sense, then they translate the context instead).

Hundreds of scholars were assigned to translate the Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek into the English of King James Version, and ever since, thousands more scholars have studied those languages. They have all concluded that King James Version is indeed accurate in the passages concerning homosexuality in both the Old Testament AND the New Testament.

I forgot - this is one of the main driving wedges between the Catholics and the Protestants, earlier in the day, because the Catholics insisted on using the Latin Vulgate version long after it have been founded to be more inaccurate than King James Version and several other versions.

There, now that's all cleared up! Knowledge is power, peeps! :D

5 ways to keep your tank happy in 5-man heroics {WoW}

Jan 11th 2012 8:20PM I'm seriously starting to think that I'm in the minority here; more than half of time when I run randoms on my toons (may it be my hunter, my mage, or my resto druid), it's the tank who was the "gogogogogo" guy. (They sure keep me on my toes whenever I play my healer, that's for sure.)

Maybe I just have bizarre luck to keep running into tanks (instead of DPS) who are like that?

Breakfast Topic: Are you a WoW cross-dresser? {WoW}

Jan 7th 2012 2:16PM Along with me, my dad and my sister also plays.

As you can tell from my name (means "Little Girl"), I'm female. All my toons are female - I just automatically clicked on female when I make toons. I didn't even realize it until about two years later when a new guildie asked me, "Are you a girl? All your toons are female."

I went, "Huh! Didn't even notice that."

Same goes for my Dad - he automatically makes male characters. The only female character he has is the one he plays for my youngest sister.

My other sister, however, is the one who "cross-dresses" - that is, she's got several male characters.

(I just remembered. The one time I played a Worgen - to check out the starting region - I made it a male... my first male toon ever. I absolutely loathed the female Worgen dance. Yeah, it was dance that made me roll my first male toon in six years.)
