Dec 9th 2011 3:09PM Not necessarily. Decomposition can take quite a while; a whale's body takes 40 to 50 years to fully decay, for example.
Now, a dragon is so much larger than a whale, yes? Now, Deathwing himself is HUGE even by dragon standards.
Also, several other factors to consider: it's bitterly cold in Dragonblight, and there's no insects (the biggest factor in decomposition, actually. Access to insects could lead to a cow being fully decomposed in only a week) as far as we know.
Not to mention, due to Deathwing's molten armor and magma, it keeps his body dry (since I'm assuming the snow would be evaporated long before it reaches his body), and I strongly doubt the vultures that fly around in Dragonblight would want to eat metal and lava.
Thanks to those factors, I could easily see Deathwing taking centuries to decompose.
(As for the airship... man-made items could survive a long time under stress. Take Titanic, for example. Despite being in two pieces and deep down in the ocean, she's in relatively good shape, other than the rust. Likewise, look at the many airplane wrecks throughout the world. They can last quite a while. Also, consider: they're in the ocean and or tropical areas, where nature easily overtake them. The Horde airship, on the other hand, is in a frozen, barren wasteland. I'm betting it can last even longer than Deathwing.)

But really, the reason I'm commenting is because I noticed people talking about filter being wonky for words such as grapes, drapes, and assassin.
You're all confusing the forum filter with the in-game filter. The forum filter is very dumb - I agree with you all on this - but the in-game is just plain ineffective. I should know, I turned it on when I first started back in 2005, and never turned it off.
And still, it doesn't filter out "rape," but it does for "nazi." Really? "Ass" gets filtered out, yes, but not "assassin" (I should know, my guild of six years is Thunder Bluff Assassins).
(As for swearing? I dunno why, but I'm just not interested in it at all. My mom says that I take after my grandmom in this respect - as people have called me, I'm an old soul.)
Apr 11th 2011 6:33PM I've seen comment after comment bemoaning the rudeness and elitism in the PuGs for the last... oh, four, five months.
I myself PuG pretty often - in fact, that's how I'm leveling up my healer, and you know what?
I rarely meet rude and elitist players (of those who I do, I could count on one hand).
Clearly, my experiences doesn't line up with other players, and after observing PuGs for the last several weeks, I have come to one conclusion:
Your attitude affects your experience. If you enter a PuG upbeat and friendly, people will either stay silent or be friendly right back. If you enter a PuG silent and remain silent, you won't have many problems. If you enter a PuG silent and turn nasty later (or start as nasty off the bat)... well, that's where the rudeness and elitism comes into play.
I'm sorry, people, but I have had met people who claim they were nice when they were not. Odds are, most of the commenters here who bemoan the rudeness and elitism are a bit rude themselves.
Chances are, I'll be downvoted, but I simply have to get this out of my system.
Want a great PuG run? BE NICE AND FRIENDLY ALL THE TIMES, even if it means pulling out your tooth. It's worth it. (Being nice and friendly means NO snarky, subtle, snide comments or being rude to one person while being nice to the rest. That's simply not nice.)

Apr 8th 2011 1:19PM This hit a little close to home, since I was born profoundly bilaterally deaf (this means I have total, irreversible hearing loss in both ears).
I've been playing WoW since 2005, and had been in the same guild ever since the beginning. My guildies and I have known each other for five years, really. However, our guild is mostly a social guild, so the most "raiding" we ever did was almost nightly heroics during BC and doing Naxx for fun during LK (we also knocked away EoE).
When we started Naxx - I forgot to mention my sister plays too, and she too has a profound bilateral hearing loss (I know, what are the odds of two deaf kids in a completely-hearing family?) - we were surprised to run into the problem of Vent.
Now, lemme tell you, most deaf players do not like Vent. Vent has given us countless problems, all because some people had made Vent a necessary when it's not.
Our guild has never used Vent up until when we started raiding Naxx. We had a couple new players who were RL friends with some guildies (not a problem - many of us knew each other in real life, and we often bring RL friends into the guild). They were the ones who insisted upon Vent, though they were kind enough to type out instructions for my sister and I.
But what got me irked was that they were dubious my sister and I could perform well. Oh, that got us upset, and so we set out to perform our BEST - and you can bet we did! We were near the top (considering neither of us were using the "spec of the month"), and we didn't die, AND I even saved the healer once.
And despite seeing my sister's and my performances, those same people kept saying over and over, "You might won't do well here... you don't have Vent. You can't hear. You better be prepared to die." (Every single boss fight for the next two weeks. How many times do we have to prove ourselves?)
Well, we stopped raiding because we cleared all the raids we wanted to, and then RL hit us - it's just norm. We were never a true raiding guild - we had fun, and that's what mattered.
However, it still makes me disappointed and slightly sad today to think what my sister and I had to go through - all because we were deaf. It never mattered that we didn't die, that we didn't miss a step (we could pull off the infamous Dance. It was very funny to watch all three priests died in one go - their angels floated over the green flames. Very memorable), and we pulled out admirable damage (my sister played a rogue, I a hunter).
So yes, I can identify with Tone Deaf - I'm only grateful that my guild were kind to my sister and I (it helped that we knew each other for four years at that point). I can truthfully tell to my fellow deaf friend: There are good and kind people out there who will help you - however, there WILL always be a few people who will doubt your skills.
The best you can do is grin and bear it - and show them!
Jan 13th 2011 2:12PM I forgot to clarify: I'm deaf, which is why I said my language (American Sign Language). I do see Thrall as being willing to do so, but I doubt that Orc hands are suited for sign language, and the Forsaken... I do see Sylvanas learning it only to be able to manipulate me.
The Elves? I think it would depend on them. Males in general struggle more in learning sign language (to the point that it's ridiculously rare to see a male interpreter) - we're unsure exactly why yet. I do see Tyrande Whisperwind as willing to communicate with me, but I don't know the extent of her seafaring skills. The Blood Elves did had an impressive navy, but again, I don't know the extent of their survival skills on an island.
The Gnomes? Yeah, I think some of them would (so would the Dwarves), but again I don't know the proficiency of their seafaring skills.
The Tauren? Definitely, but like the Orcs, I doubt their hands are suited for singing (first of all, they have two fingers instead of four...). Same goes for Trolls (I don't really see them as very willing to do so anyways).
So, to summarize this, what do I look for? Ability to survive in an island environment, friendly and kind personality, and most importantly - willingness and ability to learn sign language.
(It has been my experience that while a lot of people say they "will learn sign," only a few of them actually do so.)
Jan 13th 2011 2:03PM As you can see from my name, I'm female, and I'm straight, and yet - Jaina.
Lemme 'splain. Jaina was born to the nation of Kul'Tiras, which is a purely seafaring nation. Heck, chances are, she was actually born ON A SHIP. Not to mention, she's currently the leader of Theamore, which is a giant dock in the midst of swamp-land.
Odds are, Jaina would know how to survive on an island, and that they would sent out search parties to find her quickly. Also? She's a nice lady; she won't leave me hanging.
(And, I think she's the most likely to actually put effort into learning my language.)
Jan 7th 2011 12:55PM It might not be as unlikely as some of the great examples before me, but occasionally when new members join our guild, they would express surprise upon meeting my sister, my dad, and me.
My dad is a pastor who occasionally teaches college classes. He has one 85, and four 80s (two of them warrior, nonetheless). My sister and I both are profoundly deaf. We have a couple 80s (and one 85).

Dec 16th 2010 2:22PM What's with the refusal to use hunter CC?
Okay, I've been playing my hunter since vanilla, and I was reasonably decent at chain trapping in BC (I could bust out up to five. I never got a chance to pull a sixth trap since the other mobs are usually dead by then) even as a Marksmanship hunter.
Now, I remember how the traps were back in BC; they existed for a minute, and kept the target frozen for 30 seconds, and they had a 30 second cooldown. I would drop it and wait until the cooldown is up before pulling. By the third trap, I would be on my toes, because now the cooldown matches the trap time (meaning I have to run for the fourth and fifth).
Why did I bring that up? Well, right now, traps are FANTASTIC - they still have a 30 second cooldown, and they still exist for a minute -- and they would trap the target for a minute! (Not counting the talent in Survival which increases the duration to 1.10 minute and 1.20 minute.) What does this mean? This means the hunter - even a Beast Master, even a Marksman - could trap infinitely.
With such a great ability, why are people so reluctant to use it? Rogues' sap can't be cast in combat, and in the case of nearly every other CC, they could be used on only specific mobs, whereas the hunter's freezing trap could be used on most mobs.
Seriously, I don't get it. I've been begging PuGs (whether I'm unable to go on a guild run) to allow me chain trap, and they would always place the rogue, mage, or the shaman before me. Mage, I get. But rogues? Come on.
Nov 3rd 2010 12:05AM Arguing is not my intent, but I wish to point out that you're incorrect, Revrant. I started playing in late 2005, and I was MM ever since. When BC dropped, and once people started raiding, my guild had five regular hunters, and all of them except me were BM... and man, did they have me a HARD time for being MM.
I'm serious - go read Aspect of the Hare, BigRedKitty, and any other BM blogs, and search for 2007 posts concerning raiding. BM was THE spec for everything - grinding, PvP, heroics, and raids. MM could barely pass for PvP, and SV was the redheaded child.
I'm actually surprised you had difficulties with BM in BC, because, seriously, BM was ridiculously powerful.
