Win one of three free FigurePrints Busts {WoW}

Jun 8th 2010 9:41PM "Here lies Zumali. The noob forgot to buy more ankhs."

Know Your Lore: Current Alliance politics -- the dwarves, part one, page 2 {WoW}

May 29th 2010 11:33PM Really minor point, but it's the Blackrock Clan, not the Dragonmaw, that's battling the Dark Irons in Blackrock Mountain. The Dragonmaw are the ones currently causing trouble in the Wetlands.

Breakfast Topic: Blurring the boundaries between patches and expansions {WoW}

Aug 5th 2009 8:45AM There has not been a single content patch that has anywhere matched in scope an entire expansion. I also think you're isolating patch from expansion as if they're not interconnected. When 3.0 came out, no there was no Ulduar. But Ulduar was in fact planned. It existed on the map, we just couldn't go in yet. Yes, it was added for no extra cost, but it was only accessible obviously to those who had the WotLK xpac. Your $39.99 (or however much you spend) is essentially put towards the free content patches that are coming with the xpac.

Patches are more like chapters in a book. You buy the Book (currently WotLK) and overtime you can download more chapters until the book reaches it's conclusion (the fall of Arthas). Once that story finishes up, it's time to buy the next book in the series.

Also, you act like 3.0 was some huge departure.... do you not remember 2.0? For both xpacs, Blizzard released a patch well prior to the xpac launch introducing things like new talents and other changes to the core mechanics that would effect every account, regardless of which Xpacs they purchased.

Jarod Shadowsong, the biggest hero you've never heard of {WoW}

May 7th 2009 9:45AM The Horde and the Alliance weren't at each other's throats in Jarod's time... there was no Horde and Alliance. Apart from Rhonin and Brox coming back through time, there were no orcs & humans. There were loads of Night Elves, Tauren, furbolgs and Earthen, but I'm pretty certain that those are the only mortal races specifically mentioned.

That article pumps up Jarod to be somebody much larger than the only portrayal of him actually depicts. Malfurion and Tyrande are likely to be the only two leaders who might have any clue who he is (the Dragons had bigger problems with Deathwing to worry about, as opposed to who was finally organizing the mortal armies properly).

I highly doubt that they'd back seat Thrall, Jaina, Wrynn et al in favour of a character in a book that has been completely non-existent in WoW so far. At best, he'll get a Rhonin like nod as leader of an x-pac faction who stands around somewhere.

But Jarod's absence is slightly more telling than Rhonin's has been. Rhonin has apparently been in Dalaran which is why no one has seen him. If Jarod is such a great hero and general, where's his lazy butt been? If he's the answer to the Burning Crusade, why wasn't he at Hyjal?

BigRedKitty: Hunter-loot awards for 2008 {WoW}

Dec 31st 2008 9:47AM Pst... Karazhan is in Azeroth...and so is Hyjal :P But that's just me nit-picking. Love your articles BRK! Happy New Year!

Screenshots from inside Zul'Aman {WoW}

Apr 30th 2007 3:15PM Does it seem odd to anyone else that Zul'Aman comes AFTER taking out Kale'thas, Vashj and Illidan? Seems awfully anti-climactic.

Death by elevator {WoW}

Mar 15th 2007 10:53AM I think the best one happened when I finally got to respec back to resto. Best thing about druid flight form is that you can run off the cliff and THEN go into bird form and fly away safely. But when I respecc'd resto and gained tree form... it shifted my key binding for bird form one more over... which I didn't realize until I plummeted from Scryer rise all the way down to Lower City as a tree -_-

Around Azeroth: The Master's Glaive {WoW}

Oct 21st 2006 3:06PM It's Darkshore actually :P And yeah, lots of cool quests. Way more interesting then Westfall.

Character transfers now on a three month cooldown {WoW}

Oct 19th 2006 9:49PM I doubt it has so much to do with whiners as finding a proper balance for the amount of traffic the transfer system can take. The reason it changed so quickly is probably that they had too much of a demand when they bumped it down to one month, and are increasing the time frame again to alleviate the flow.
