Spiritual Guidance: Priest healing strategies for Cho'gall in The Bastion of Twilight {WoW}

Apr 5th 2011 12:05PM What Redielin said. Until 4.1's infinite Chakra state duration, it's too much of a distraction to switch state. If you are assigned to the MT (cho'gall tank) then stick to Serenity most of the time until phase 2. If you are assigned to the OT (add tank) then only use Sanctuary. The AoE damage is pretty exceptional and if your composition lacks good aoe heals you'll be forced into Sanctuary the entire time. As Red said, send out shadowfiend early. I tossed mine out there around 15 seconds into the fight which was timed about right for the first big aoe dmg.

Disc isn't worth it in this fight in my opinion. If it's all you got then you might be able to get by, but it didn't have enough throughput for me to keep the raid up. Penance isn't a good spell in this fight either because you are forced to sit for 2 seconds to channel. In this fight you have to move a lot and I'd rather stop and restart a spell rather than losing it altogether by cutting it off a channel early. On the other hand, Holy's powerful instants are perfect... dodge a corruption crash, cast, dodge, cast, dodge, scream, dispel, etc.

Our team did this with three heals, but I suggest doing it with two. An extra 12k+ dps would have sped the fight up significantly which lessens the strain on heals.

Spiritual Guidance: Healing Chimaeron and Atramedes as a priest {WoW}

Mar 7th 2011 5:26PM Atramedes is blind so the turn speed of his Sonic Breath increases based on the target's sound level. Hence, Body and Soul is fine for both ground and air.

Against Chimaeron I disagree that Holy and Disc are equally good. Circle of Healing while in Chakra:PoH verse Cuastic Slime is epic. Your CoH CD is faster and the spell is more powerful. Renew in Chakra:PoH is also more powerful and can be effective when spec'd right as a instant cast when CoH is on CD. Also, when Bile-O-Tron is knocked out I'd much rather be using Holy for AoE heals than spamming shields. The only time I can see using Disc verse Chimaeron is if you are having trouble with the achievement of having eight or more alive at the end.

Breakfast Topic: To "grats" or not to "grats" {WoW}

Feb 14th 2011 12:39PM no excuse to not type grats? I grats rarely and only for major accomplishments such as hitting level 85, downing a hard boss for the first time, or finishing a profession. Otherwise it's a waste of time and only aids in encouraging the attention seekers to keep on begging for approval.

Addon Spotlight: My Top 5 addons {WoW}

Jan 27th 2011 2:29PM 1. Postal
2. Auctioneer
3. IceHud
4. VuhDo
5. TellMeWhen

Reader UI of the Week: Adam's UI {WoW}

Jan 18th 2011 4:35PM This one's fairly similar to my UI. IceHud is the bomb, but I also have secondary frames for myself and my target. I do this because Shadowed Unit Frames has a cleaner display of whom my focus is, my focus target, and my target's target. I also use ShadowedUF for raid frames when I'm not using VuhDo. The main difference to my setup is that my VuhDo (similar to Healbot) panels are just to the left of IceHud rather than below it. I also use Skada rather than Recount/Omen.

Reader UI of the Week: Akirah's UI {WoW}

Jan 11th 2011 3:19PM What is the resolution you have to work with there?

Pyromelter hit a lot of good points. Quartz or TellMeWhen would help for combat timing. Satrina Buff Frames is nice for your buff/debuff layout. Also, Chinchilla Minimap is a solid minimap addon that allows you to configure its shape to fit your UI.

It looks like the setup is a good base to work from. Here are some adjustments I could see working. Push Bartender down stacking only three high, but longer filling in the empty space and extending to the right side of the screen. Stack Grid on top of the right side of bartender along the rightside of the screen. Press Prat down and out the the left side of the screen. Stack Recount (or Skada) on top of it along the left side. It would not be perfectly symmetric, but would be more usable imo.

Raid Rx: Reality check for heroic healing {WoW}

Dec 17th 2010 4:08PM the last minute pro tip definitely rings true. If someone is taking a constant stream of medium damage I'll sometimes let them drop just below 50% before I heal them to employ Test of Faith

Reader UI of the Week: Quantus' UI {WoW}

Dec 15th 2010 10:08AM very clean and organized. I like it and it would work well for a low level toon with only a few spells. Unfortunately, I'm not sure where I'd put my other five action bars.

It's unfortunate SexyMap is unsupported at the moment. It's such an awesome addon.

Reader UI of the Week: Sewell's UI {WoW}

Nov 2nd 2010 3:22PM pretty art, but not terribly functional. What if you need more than 16 action slots? Also, for me I like my action bar items to me right next to each other for quick reference and good space management, which isn't the case here.

Drama Mamas: Raiding while female {WoW}

Oct 22nd 2010 4:37PM In my experience, girls tend to be more casual players. Most of the ones I encounter while raiding are doing so because their boyfriend or husband is doing so. Also in my experience, women lead many of the successful casual guilds, but it's the men who lead the successful raiding guilds. This may sound sexist, but perhaps it has to do with the more primitive hunter or gatherer tendencies guys and girls exibit.
