Apr 2nd 2012 2:27PM My own story (massively abbreviated)
I started playing WOW several months before my wife started and she started so she could spend more time with me. One of the differences is that we are both employed, full time, but I am certainly the one who started out with the WOW addiction. I can't count the number of times, while levelling, she called me for dinner and I shouted back, "Just a minute, I'm in a cave!"
She finally started her own toon, a hunter, and began the levelling process. She said she wanted to try it on her own, so while she was levelling, I tried to do housework and cook as best I could, to help her on her way. Finally, the great white light of Understanding flashed in our household when, one weekend, I called her for lunch and she didn't reply. I went upstairs to find out if she had heard me and this meek little voice poked its head around the door and said..."I can't...I'm in a cave!"
Long story short: Now, we are both 12 toon players, 4 of which are endgame raiders. Our daughter and son-in-commonlaw are both WOW players now, and my wife, daughter and I are all officers in the guild. Our son-in-commonlaw moved to a different guild (hard core raiding guild) but still has toons in our guild.
I won't say WOW saved our marriage, but it certainly hasn't hurt.
Jan 26th 2012 4:33PM Wow...guess I'd better look at the actual thread instead of the replies....sheesh! above (hopefully) comment directed at Lipsticks reply to my original post.
Jan 26th 2012 4:30PM @lipstick...this, so much this!
But they do kick ppl, even if the bosses are going down...because they are going down to slowly.
But yes, dmg done is way more important than dps. I imagine my 10k dps difference was due to me waiting the few seconds it takes to let the tank get aggro....sigh my bad, apparently :-)
Jan 26th 2012 11:01AM Which would make Skada actually more accurate for dps? Damage is what kills bosses, but dps is what gets ppl kicked, so I'd like to be able to make a coherent argument when the time comes.
Jan 26th 2012 10:09AM Totally off topic, maybe a subject for another day (maybe already covered somewhere I'm to lazy to look for), but I'm really curious as to why there is usually such a huge difference between the numbers you see in Recount as opposed to the numbers you see in Skada. Very recently, in an LFR, my dps for the current fight differed by almost 10k (Skada was higher, consistently). This was one of the LFR's from Hell where they started booting the bottom 5 dps after the first fight and naturally, Recount numbers were what they posted.
I wasn't in line to get booted, but I posted my Skada numbers in retaliation. Skada showed a completely different bottom end, but the Recount numbers won that round and ppl were removed. I dropped group.
So, any idea as to what the difference is?
Jan 18th 2012 12:27PM I wish we could have kept the original Worgen model....it was badass!
Dec 2nd 2010 2:10PM That was the single most awesome WOW music video EVAH!! Nice job and I can only imagine the co-ordination and timing involved. Apparently they should have been on Mumble instead of TeamSpeak or Vent...... :-)
Oct 15th 2010 2:46PM I couldn't agree more. The new form, in my eyes, is NOT attractive, nor is it functional enough to warrant using the CD anytime soon. Assuming the movement restriction made it to live (I haven't used the CD even once, yet, not even to test it) why did they even give it legs?
Oh, and while the qq is flying...its good to see that the rampant abuse of battle rez has been addressed. My gawd, previously, if you stacked enough druids in the raid, no one would ever stay dead for long! Intensely OP, horribly abused and exploited for years, Blizzard finally took a stand! GJ Blizz! NOW when we die, we will STAY dead! Take THAT, all you battle rez abusers!!
A 30 minute cooldown?.......jeez
Jul 6th 2010 3:38PM Pleasepleasepleasepleasepleaseplease give me a "Super Awesome Bongo Heals" cooldown, but LEAVE MY TREE ALONE!!!
Oh gawd, I'm starting to actually think I may abandon my resto druid if this change goes through, which is ridiculous and stupid considering the beta has been up for like 15 minutes. But I also can't believe how emotional I get when I think about not healing in tree form. But everything about this change screams at me...."BLIZZARD DOESN'T WANT TREE HEALERS!!", or at least "old" tree healers.
Jun 22nd 2010 7:07PM Of all the changes to resto, the only one I am violently opposed to is the Tree of Life as cooldown. Give the cooldown a different name and/or visual effect, but let me heal as a Tree! Are they gonna make Bear form a cooldown? Or any of the other forms a cooldown? I don't think so.
And I, for one (and perhaps only), dont' want/need more direct heals. If I wanted to heal like a pally or a priest, I'd roll one. I loves my HOTs, but I'll take'em, if they just leave my Tree form alone.
