BlizzCon 2010: Quests and lore panel highlights {WoW}

Oct 26th 2010 8:04PM Yeah, though I think it's small, just a few weeks. Enough time for the events of the novel The Shattering (which is a fantastic novel) to take place.

Breakfast Topic: Is your main a former alt? {WoW}

Oct 26th 2010 12:32PM Definitely! I used to play my Hunter all the time. I dabbled in other classes. In Wrath, after the Great Hunter Nerf, I couldn't enjoy my hunter at all any more. I decided I wanted to heal, my favourite role in most other MMOs I've played. So I dug out one of those dabbled alts, a Paladin, and levelled. And levelled. I finally hit 80 early this summer.

While the new changes to Hunter are making the class way more enjoyable again, I'm sticking with my Paladin as my main going into Cataclysm. Why? I've found I love healing. Paladin healing may have changed drastically, but it's still a lot of fun.

Breakfast Topic: Are you dodging the Cataclysm beta? {WoW}

Sep 7th 2010 8:25AM In the beta I'm mainly playing the low-level content of races I won't play on live, specifically a goblin and undead. I'll probably also give trolls a try, at least as far as level 10.

For my level 80 (now almost 82), I've done questing in Hyjal and some in Vash'jir, but not sure how far I'll take them in questlines. Once VuhDo's working in the beta, I might stick to just dungeon levelling, since I don't want to spoil myself too much. (Yeah, not very tester-worthy behaviour, and if there were multiple 80-85 levelling paths like we had in Wrath, I'd go all out and stick to one path, but since there is only one path I want to stay generally quest-spoiler-free.)

The Daily Blues {WoW}

Aug 19th 2010 12:46PM Speaking as a healer, I totally agree. We can't save the day, as it were, without a good tank. (Well, occasionally we can, but it's rare and usually just blind luck. Still don't know how I kept my group alive through the heroic HoS with the newbie tank that didn't know how to hold aggro on more than one thing at a time. I think the DK DPS must have off-tanked. It was too chaotic for me to be sure.)

Anyway! My point is, without a good tank, the healer's job is way harder, and things 'hit the fan' on a more regular basis.

Breakfast Topic: The things that keep us playing WoW {WoW}

Aug 16th 2010 12:27PM I play for the friendships, primarily. But I also play because, just in general, it's fun. No matter what mood I'm in, there's always something fun to do in the game. If I feel like questing, I can level alts. If I feel like raiding/doing dungeons, I have my Paladin. If I feel lazy, I can fish. If I feel the need to accomplish something, there's hundreds of achievements to work on. If I need stress relief, I take my hunter into battlegrounds.

The Light and How to Swing It: How to heal different tanks {WoW}

Aug 15th 2010 4:36PM I mainly heal in PUG heroics, but in general I hate healing DK's. I always seem to have to heal them three times as much. If it wasn't for Beacon of Light, I don't think I could keep up, at least LK heroics, with most of the DK's I've played with.

Now, on the other hand, I have met a few DKs who can take a pounding, so I imagine it's just the majority of them don't know their cooldowns properly. (Heck, once, one of my guildmates was playing his DK with me in Halls of Lightning, as DPS, and our tank went linkdead in the middle of a massive double-sized trash pull. Without even being specced or geared to tank at that moment, managed to grab aggro and tank down the group, and still kept himself mitigating enough for me to keep him alive.) So when I have a DK that knows what he's doing, I don't mind at all.

I love healing Paladins and Druids. (Except one druid who didn't know how to hold aggro on more than one thing at a time.)

I've hardly ever seen any Warrior tanks, by luck of the draw or maybe a lack of them in my battlegroup. The handful I have seen weren't particularly easy or particularly hard to heal.

Enter to win a Blazing Hippogryph and other loot {WoW}

Jul 28th 2010 4:49AM I love these contests. :)

The Light and How to Swing It: Healing from the front line {WoW}

Jul 19th 2010 12:10AM This is going to be so fantastic. I've really been waiting to have an actual reason to get plate armour on my holy spec. Yes, I like this very much. :)

Insider Trader: Engineering your Cataclysm {WoW}

Jul 12th 2010 9:45PM Personally, I hope we get some new seaforium charges, I missed those in Wrath! (I'd always, before that, kept at least a few on me at all times.) Also, a new teleporter. Add more cool gadgets like MOLL-E and Jeeves (I so want those plans too, have yet to get into Ulduar and no luck killing mechagnomes), new fireworks, and cool stuff as well as the stat-boosting/combat useful stuff, I'll be happy.

Though, I definitely wouldn't complain about a new epic gun. I love my guns.

Breakfast Topic: Take this job and shove it {WoW}

Jul 12th 2010 1:40AM Yep, I love engineering! There's no way I'll ever drop it either. There's nothing better than having a bunch of gadgets at your disposal.
