Aug 11th 2010 3:37PM I'm not aware of any dot/haste mechanic changes. Now I'll have to go away and track down the posts on this >.
Aug 11th 2010 12:59AM @Natsumi You got confused between "Models", which look at averages, and "Simulations" which use many iterations of RNG based "real world". Ironically, when you compare the two, any differences between the median from the sim and the expected value on the model come down to calculation differences & assumptions made on either side.
It's also worth noting that simulations like SimulationCraft will plot all the sim results, and those results resemble a bell curve.
Part of the reason why we make an assumption around RNG in models is so that we can simplify things in order to generate EP values in a short order in something like excel, compared to creating a complete application to do it like EnhSim.
Aug 11th 2010 12:36AM The bonus damage/dps would increase, but the actual scaling value for Intellect would be applicable to Spellpower in general as well, since it's a direct one to one conversion.
Aug 4th 2010 7:33PM Druids can do it all, so technically Shaman is still the only class that can do melee/ranged damage and heal as I didn't specifically mention tanking.
But yes, I forgot about druids, which is bad considering that my only other 80 is a druid >.< The point is still valid though.
Jul 29th 2010 6:06PM You're forgetting that increasing your mana pool increases the percentage based regen from Replenishment and Thunderstorm.
So if I have 30,000 mana, a 10% increase on that gives me 33,000. Thunderstorm now returns 2640 mana rather than 2400, an increase of roughly 27 mp5.
The other problem is that mana cost reductions multiply in the opposite method from haste.
ie: a 1000 mana spell reduced by 10% costs 900. A 1000 mana spell reduced by 10% and then by clearcasting (40%) it costs 540 mana (1000/90/60) rather than the 600 from just clearcasting alone.
Since clearcasting has a 70-80% uptime, it reduces the effectiveness of Convection somewhat.

Jul 25th 2010 5:49AM I was referring to stacking like buffs.
So Haste with haste, spellpower with spellpower, crit with crit. So if you have a haste cooldown (EM, for instance) and a spellpower cooldown, yes, stacking them together gives a bonus, although if one is at 2min and the other 3 the question is whether a double stack is better than 2 of one plus one of the other.
Stacking haste with haste, on the other hand, makes little difference whether you combine them or use them separately. Hypothetically, having two 20 second buffs that reduce a 1.6 second cast by 0.1 seconds will result in 26.67 casts in 40 seconds if used sequentially, and 14.3 for the first 20 seconds and 12.5 for the second 20 seconds, giving a total of 26.7 casts. This is a very crude example, and based on how haste buffs work, the sequential use would result in a slightly higher figure (in the 0.1-0.5 range, most likely).
Similarly, adding an extra 20 damage for 2X seconds or 40 damage for X seconds will result in a negligible difference.
When you use different cooldowns at the same time, like Wild Magic during Heroism, you get more casts that are affected by the higher spellpower/crit, which will result in higher damage than had you used it separately.
By now this either makes sense, or I've confused you more.
Jul 24th 2010 11:46PM This was actually my second/third post, it just got beaten out the door by Cataclysm stuff.
Jul 24th 2010 11:40PM Then you'll love what I've got Coming Soon(TM)
