Apr 4th 2012 2:58PM Unlike the special snowflakes who post in the forums, and the devs unfortunately, I would like my class to feel similar. If I want something different, I'll play my monk alt. If I want a random play style every few months, I'll go back to playing my Pally.
I play Disc with some Shadow on the side.
What I have read in WI in the last week did not seem positive for me about Disc especially or shadow.
Shadowform is both a passive ability and something players like; thus I would expect it to be removed.
Apr 4th 2012 1:12PM Q4Q: Could you resurvey the staff, especially the ones in Cata beta, as to their guess for MoP ship date? (I even think that a quick internal email survey and do an post monthly would be a quick way to get a popular article out.)
"when will MoP ship?" is unanswerable. But based upon experience you can estimate whether it feels 1 or 10 months away. Blizzard claims to be more agile and productive now although I am a bit skeptical. But you can say whether you think this feels like the completeness of the Cata beta ??? months before launch.
At first people were surprised and impressed at how much was done. But then on the last WI podcast they were saying Holiday 2012. With Blizzard sticking to the "no Ruby Sanctum filler content", I think player retention would suffer if this was it for 7 more months.
How much time does a raid leader have to keep people together and subscribed? If 5.0.3 comes out a month before FCS and a month lull before 5.0.3 is OK as everyone either chills or reads Beta info. A July ship (unlikely it seems) means a June 5.0.3 and needing raid teams/activities for another 6-8 lockouts. A November ship means 25+ more weeks.
Apr 2nd 2012 8:14PM This is so annoying. I quit playing my pally for this very reason. I played my resto shaman as main and disp as alt because they were the least ruined. I hope that something would survive in MoP but I guess not.
Mar 31st 2012 1:02AM EVE has so much potential; so many good things. Single shard, sandbox, most things player built, sophisticated crafting, PLEX, etc.
But, like literary heroes, it is tragically flawed. It is sad but amusing to hear all the people who defend the EVE culture being confused about it being a niche game with no growth.
If the market evolves to WoW and SWTOR being the only subscription MMOs besides EVE, then that will put further pressure on CCP.
Mar 31st 2012 12:12AM I just assumed the main driver of popularity was the movie Jessica Rabbit.
( btw I really, really like Ms Turner)
So it just seems natural to use it, especially since most people do.
Mar 30th 2012 2:23PM Inquiring minds want to know!
More shows please; I love them!
/troll [sarcasm=max] Is it because you know nobody will be playing any other MMO once GW2 ships?
Mar 30th 2012 2:17PM There is one map feature that I love in SWTOR:
the entrance to the cave/elevator/room is marked on the map, not the objective, if the objective is in another sub zone/room.
"Getting Things Done":
For instance, if I want to go do a quest, the location of the objective is irrelevant. What I need to know is the location of the entrance to the cave that the objective is in. Once I am in the cave, then the objective shows up.
Mar 28th 2012 12:18PM Books: 38000 free ebooks at http://m.gutenberg.org/ or you could work on your Star Wars lore; Revan is the latest iirc.
Question for the lawbringer: Mittani? If you need a topic, the current contretemps is coming, unsurprisingly, from EVE Online: the elected head of the player council, in a recorded video at Fanfest, showed a letter from a depressed player who he defrauded and "publicly mock a suicidal player, encouraging other players to make him kill himself." There are some legal issues: as unpopular as video game are with politicians ("Remember the children!"), do you think a public cyberbullying-suicide from a game could cause more legislation/regulation for game companies, MMOs in particular.
Mar 28th 2012 2:15AM I played a Healadin and a lock in TBC. I can absolutely, positively assure you that not all changes are good.
I was wary of TC but have warmed to it considerably. But I think Snuzzle makes a good point; how can you balance an encounter without assuming it is mandatory unless the spell is worthless?
Mar 27th 2012 12:39PM That is the interesting point. Warlocks can be perfectly fine raid members not OP but certainly not underpowered. Yet the incontrivertible facts are that they are underplayed.
It's not that people can't or shouldn't play locks; it's just that they don't.
