Mar 20th 2012 12:44PM I just want to mention that WoW crafting (and pricing) tend to lock people with professions into a realm. E.g., I have one of every profession at max and more than one alchemist (WTB epic gem transmute.) So a realm transfer would entail my main not having the support and income from the rest. Or spending serious $ to move them all.
Mar 19th 2012 10:43PM Blizzard already has a superior loot system in game - the elementium geode (LK quest bag, holiday boss bag).
Everyone is a winner! always popular idea. When you open your bag it might contain 20g or it might contain an epic. The epic would always be usable by you or BoE. Bliz can choose whether you have a 20% or 10% or 2% of getting something as well as the loot table to pull from. It's your bag; so whether you have zero or 6 paladins or mages in the group does not change what is in your bag.
Mar 19th 2012 10:30PM @Revynn: so the solutions are either:
1) fundamentally change human nature. ( Blizzard would go bankrupt if they only sold to intelligent, selfless people.)
2) Change the loot system.
I believe #2 is easier and quicker.
Mar 17th 2012 11:17AM BTW, what are the options for mail users? e.g. there is Black Mageweave and WarBear leather but what is for mail?
Mar 16th 2012 10:03PM Something from EVE that I miss in WoW and especially these days in SWTOR is no stupid AH stacks. Someone can list 837 Elementium ore as a single entry. Someone else can buy 32 of them. None of this listing 50 bars of 5 and 20 of 20 ...
Mar 16th 2012 10:00PM Yes to buy orders!!!!
Some other side benefits are that:
it gives people better insight into what to gather - fathom eel, whiptail or fel iron. Just because the only sell order for an item is high means it will sell for that. But if you get the mat in time you can fill the buy order.
It reduces some of the power of AH bots & campers. Is it really good game play to reward the person/bot who checks the AH every 5 minutes.
Mar 16th 2012 1:10AM ^^^ * 1000
You could argue about raid gear, but the thing that made me walk away for WoW when the MF dailies came out were professions.
I could see getting my healer and mage each through. But I needed to get my engineer, LW, BS & Tailor who don't raid just to get the patterns.
Life is too short.
Mar 14th 2012 11:59AM Blizzard is helping causing a lot of these problems without being a bit more clear about the situation.
My understanding is that the guild belongs completely to the GM. So why would anyone think a ticket has the remotest chance of success or should? E.g., the GM had the right to move the guild to another server using RL$.
OTOH, people think there is some communal right to the guild. Games like EVE Online have shares and the occasional stockholder vote. Although shareholder rights get trampled about as much in EVE as RL, they do exist. If Blizzard wants members or officers to have rights, they should implement game mechanics for that.
IMO, Blizzard should be a bit more clear as to whether guilds are communal or property.
P.S., the GM was lazy - a bit of effort and he could have sold the guild for perhaps an additional 25-100k.
P.S.S.: one of the morals from this is one of my favorite WoW quotes "anything in a guild bank is just future drama"
Mar 13th 2012 7:51PM No forced grouping!
Mar 13th 2012 2:52PM I noticed STUF was used. In the past, I have switched between STUF and x-perl depending on which was least buggy.
I notice most recent UIs tend to mention STUF. Curse shows 5 times as many downloads for x-perl.
Is there a significant reason to choose one over the other? Recommendations?
Mr McCurley, If you are looking for Addon column topics, say to free up more time to battle your evil Nemesis Rossi, you could always do "two+ add ons enter..." columns. There are some categories that I think are dominated by an add-on: e.g. DBM, recount, Omen, MKSCT, ... But there are other categories are fragmented. So you just need to do a survey of healbot/vuhdo/grid+clique, unit frames, action bars, bag add ons and then /popcorn as the commenters defend how they are using the obviously best one.
